As Heraclitus said in the 4th century BC, "Nothing is permanent, but change!" Everyday life in the world has been touched and in some parts substantially altered by the advent of the Internet and the so called Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs). The usage of ICTs has become embedded within our societies. The influence and implications of this have an impact at a macro level in the way our governments, economies and businesses operate, and in our everyday lives. The true value of ICTs is summarized in the words of the Nobel prized economist Joseph Stiglitz: "The new technologies have caused increases in productivity that will continue to make a huge difference in our living standards"

Six Years That Shook The World written by William R. Koss and has been published by Createspace Independent Pub this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-08 with Computers categories.

Six Years that Shook the World provides a short, but deep history of the internet, telecom and optical market revolutions that has initiated an evolution from a global push economic structure to an emerging pull economic model. The internet and telecom boom of the 1990s and its crash post-2000 were the product of a cycle of regulation and deregulation that will in time result in the change of the regulatory controls on the communication industry of America. The internet is the lowest-cost and most powerful economic transaction medium available to corporations with which an economic transaction can be completed. It provides global reach assuming network and computing infrastructure is present. The value of the internet as a transaction medium becomes apparent when it is put into the context of the chain of commerce. The internet provides the end-user, whether consumer or businesses, with constant availability of information and the continuous ability to execute transactions. Transactions can be any computing event that triggers an exchange of value for support of the transaction. Lowering the cost of transactions and improving productivity by leveraging the internet will drive economic development. Telecom deregulation in 1934 and 1996 released inherent monopolized market value, which was the determining factor for significant capital investments and produced the genesis proofs of a pull economy - but provided an insufficient amount of infrastructure to achieve the revolutionary vision of a new economy and failed to ensure American leadership in a global economy. Investment in the communication infrastructure is mandatory to ensure the United States is the leader in the emerging pull economic structure. Six Years that Shook the World describes the cycle of innovation and deregulation in the context of the telecom and networking industries. It argues that the communications industry that was invented in America is now being led by multi-national companies who are located in other nation-states. America is on the verge of forever relinquishing our leadership in networking and telecommunications, because we are failing to ensure the establishment of a real and complete technology infrastructure for a new economy in the United States.

IT and the Internet have been seen as a way to enable developing countries to leapfrog over the development path and increase their rate of growth. This paper reviews the situation in India, where the government has strongly encouraged the development of information technology. Although the software sector has become a large and growing export industry there are still the general problems of poor infrastructure and low public investment alongside regulations and controls that can stifle growth. These factors will limit any leapfrogging as economic growth depends on complementary and complicated interactions.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of Industry 4.0, integrating digital technologies into supply chain management (SCM) presents opportunities and challenges. While Industry 4.0 promises increased efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness, its impact on sustainability within SCM remains a pressing concern. Existing literature often needs to look more into the holistic integration of Industry 4.0 technologies with sustainable practices in SCM, leaving a critical gap in understanding and implementation. This gap not only inhibits the realization of sustainable performance but also hinders firms from aligning with global sustainability agendas such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) 2030. Digital Transformation for Improved Industry and Supply Chain Performance offers a comprehensive solution by examining the integration of Industry 4.0 technology and SCM sustainability. It addresses the urgent need for firms to undergo digital transformation to achieve sustainable performance. It provides insights into how Industry 4.0 technologies can be strategically leveraged to promote sustainability in SCM operations. Through in-depth analysis of critical topics such as cybersecurity, resilience, circular economy practices, and ethical considerations, this book equips readers with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of Industry 4.0-enabled SCM sustainability.

International Economic Governance In A Multipolar World written by Radhika Desai and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-04-19 with Political Science categories.

This book covers key aspects of the governance of the world economy, from the structures of capitalism to regional economic integration through the trading and production systems. International economic governance was already in crisis well before the pandemic, and talk of the crisis of multilateralism and of the postwar Bretton Woods arrangements had become commonplace. The pandemic, with its economic, political, and international reverberations, has only widened and deepened that crisis, which has now taken the form of a new cold war on China, and made the search for solutions more urgent. In this context, the chapters in this volume contribute to a deeper understanding of how international economic governance and the world economy have been changing over the long run, and provide insights into the new forms they are taking at the macro and micro levels. The book covers the crisis of capitalism revealed by the pandemic, particularly when contrasted with socialist countries, initiatives of regional economic integration that challenge, rather than being subordinated by, western powers, including the US, the evolution of the trade regime in ways that make contemporary trade wars intelligible, and the shakeup of the international production system. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of The Japanese Political Economy.
