The hypothesis that the Gospel of Mark was heavily influenced by Pauline theology and/or epistles was widespread in the nineteenth century, but fell out of favour for much of the twentieth century. In the last twenty years or so, however, this view has begun to attract renewed support, especially in English language scholarship. This major and important collection of essays by an international team of scholars seeks to move the discussion forward in a number of significant ways – tracing the history of the hypothesis from the nineteenth century to the modern day, searching for historical connections between these two early Christians, analysing and comparing the theology and christology of the Pauline epistles and the Gospel of Mark, and assessing their reception in later Christian texts. A comprehensive investigation of notions of "time" in deuterocanonical and cognate literature, from the ancient Jewish up to the early Christian eras, requires further scholarship. The aim of this collection of articles is to contribute to a better understanding of "time" in deuterocanonical literature and pseudepigrapha, especially in Second Temple Judaism, and to provide criteria for concepts of time in wisdom literature, apocalypticism, Jewish and early Christian historiography and in Rabbinic religiosity. Essays in this volume, representing the proceedings of a conference of the "International Society for the Study of Deuterocanonical and Cognate Literature" in July 2019 at Greifswald, discuss concepts and terminologies of "time", stemming from novellas like the book of Tobit, from exhortations for the wise like Ben Sira, from an apocalyptic time table in 4 Ezra, the book of Giants or Daniel, and early Christian and Rabbinic compositions. The function of the participle within the Hebrew tense system has considerably changed between biblical and postbiblical Hebrew. This investigation studies the participle in the Hebrew manuscripts from the Judaean Desert, its formation, its usage, and its meaning, compared with those in other Hebrew traditions and dialects, especially the language of the Hebrew Bible. The biblical Hebrew tense system continues to be used in the Scrolls, while there is a clear difference between the tense system of the Scrolls and that of mishnaic Hebrew. This fact allows us to draw conclusions in the field of language studies; but it also provides us with a piece of the puzzle in our understanding of the sociology and religion of the Qumran community. Die Funktion des Partizips innerhalb des hebräischen Tempussystems wandelte sich erheblich zwischen biblischem und nach-biblischem Hebräisch. Diese Studie untersucht das Partizip in den hebräischen Handschriften aus der judäischen Wüste, seine Bildung, seine Verwendung und seine Bedeutung, im Vergleich mit anderen hebräischen Traditionen und Dialekten, vor allem der Sprache der hebräischen Bibel. Das biblisch-hebräische Tempussystem findet seine Fortsetzung in diesen Handschriften, während es einen klaren Unterschied zwischen deren Tempussystem und dem des mischnischen Hebräisch gibt. Diese Tatsache erlaubt Rückschlüsse im Bereich der Sprachwissenschaft, sie liefert aber auch einen Mosaikstein in unserem Verständnis von Gesellschaft und Religion der Qumran-Gemeinschaft.

Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Die Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands markiert einen wichtigen Punkt in der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik: Mit der Einheit Deutschlands wurde auch die volle Souveränität als Staat (wieder) hergestellt, die Siegermächte gaben die Weisungshoheit über die BRD und die DDR ab und das geeinte Deutschland kann seitdem als gleichwertiger Akteur außenpolitisch auftreten. Man hat sich von der Vergangenheit des Dritten Reiches abgesetzt, das Bild des deutschen Nationalstaates steht hauptsächlich in Verbindung mit wirtschaftlicher Stärke. Nach innen hatte die Einigung der BRD mit der ehemaligen DDR jedoch eklatante Folgen: Auch wenn das Datum der deutschen Wiedervereinigung zeitlich schon weit zurückliegt, scheint der Zusammenschluss der deutschen Nation unter einem Staat mit erfolgreicher Installierung des westdeutschen Wirtschaftssystems in der ehemaligen DDR, noch immer nicht ganz vollzogen. Auch wenn die Wiedervereinigung zunächst den Anschein einer endgültigen Lösung der deutschen Frage hatte, sind jetzt, 20 Jahre danach, noch immer deutliche Unterschiede zwischen Ost und West erkennbar: Neben der immer noch vorhandenen, persönlichen Zuordnung der deutschen Bevölkerung in Ossis und Wessis , ist das Gebiet der ehemaligen DDR von hoher Arbeitslosigkeit und einer anwachsenden Zahl von Neonazis mit entsprechend xenophoben Mordtaten gekennzeichnet. Die mit dem Anschluss an die BRD einhergehende Umstrukturierung der Ostgebiete hin zu einer marktwirtschaftlichen Wirtschaftsordnung ist noch immer nicht so weit fortgeschritten, dass die Ostgebiete den westdeutschen Gebieten strukturell gleichgesetzt wären. Die Einigung selbst kann mehr als ein unpolitische[r], wirtschaftstechnokratische[r] Akt nach Effizienzkriterien gesehen werden, der langfristig zur Folge hatte, dass sich in den Ostgebieten für viele die Lebenslage eher verschlechtert hat, als den erhofften Aufschwung zu bringen. Die staatlichen Maßnahmen zur Vereinigung der DDR mit der BRD zielten in erster Linie auf die wirtschaftliche Einigung hin zur kapitalistischen Marktwirtschaft. Die in diesem Kontext vollzogene Einführung der D-Mark, zum Beispiel, sollte den Weg für die DDR-Bürger bereiten, eine unternehmerische Initiative zu gründen, auf Basis derer sich die Marktkräfte entfalten können.
