El paso histórico que supone la apertura de la hiperaula en el Edificio de la Almudena se presenta como una excusa más que pertinente para mirarnos en el espejo del pasado del lugar que habitamos el personal de administración y servicios, los estudiantes, los docentes y los investigadores de la Facultad de Educación de la UCM. De esta excusa nace la exposición «El Edificio de la Almudenade Ciudad Universitaria: La huella del pasado en tiempos de la hiperaula». El documento que a continuación se ofrece pretende ser un complemento a la exposición con una narración más detallada que pueda resultar de interés tanto para quienes tengan la oportunidad de pasear por la exposición, como para quienes busquen profundizar en la historia de una construcción emblemática para varias generaciones de educadores y educadoras en España. El Edificio de la Almudena es un espacio cargado de historia en el que diferentes iniciativas y proyectos educativos han sido implementados a lo largo de más de noventa años. Un terreno que ha cobijado los pasos de niñas y niños huérfanos, de combatientes del batallón de acero del 5º Regimiento que durante la Guerra Civil española controlaron el parque de la Dehesa y los edificios colindantes, de mujeres de la Sección Femenina que cursaron sus estudios en la Escuela de Especialidades Julio Ruiz de Alda o de estudiantes de las diplomaturas, licenciaturas y grados de Pedagogía, de Magisterio de Infantil y Educación Primaria, de Educación Social y de los actuales dobles grados, así como de la variedad de postgrados y del programa de doctorado, que desde el inicio de los años noventa se han impartido en la Facultad de Educación de la UCM. La Facultad de Educación de la UCM encara el incierto siglo xxi con nue- vos desafíos. La inauguración de la hiperaula es un síntoma del deseo de mirarde frente el presente y futuro pedagógico. Un paso al frente significativo quedemanda mirar al pasado con otra perspectiva. La mirada al pasado de hoy novolverá a ser nunca más la misma. De ahí la importancia de fijar nuestra actualmirada y observar con atención la huella del pasado del espacio que habitamos.
