La Tesis consiste esencialmente en un Estudio de caso de un CEP andaluz que trata de penetrar en la vida de esa institución de formación permanente del profesorado en sus diversas dimensiones y aspectos (organizativos, pedagógicos, participativos...), desde una perspectiva naturalista y mediante la utilización de una metodología eminentemente cualitativa (entrevistas, grupos de discusión, etc.), que no descarta el uso de procedimientos cuantitativos (cuestionarios...). La primera parte de la tesis aborda, por un lado, la problemática de la Formación Permanente del profesorado, centrándose en la conexión de la Formación Inicial con la Formación Permanente, en la colegialidad profesional docente y en los modelos o estilos básicos de docencia, por otro, en la relación entre estilos de enseñanza y modelos de asesoramiento que se derivan de los mismos, optándose por un modelo de reconstrucción social como uno de los más adecuados para el asesoramiento en Secundaria. Se analiza también la figura del asesor desde una perspectiva teórica y práctica, detectándose claramente el carácter instrumentalizador con que es concebida esta función por parte de las administraciones educativas, así como las distintas modalidades de formación más significativas puestas en práctica por parte de los CEP y los asesores y asesoras de los mismos. En las consideraciones Finales o Conclusiones, se hacen propuestas o alternativas tendentes a mejorar aspectos críticos de la Formación Permanente del Profesorado, del Asesoramiento y de la organización y funcionamiento de los CEP como instituciones de formación permanente que, han entrado en una nueva fase o ciclo de desarrollo, como consecuencia de la remodelación experimentada en la comunidad autónoma andaluza.
