This book brings together a wide range of topics in leadership ethics and business ethics. It approaches these topics from the perspective of the humanities as well as the social sciences. About half of the book is on leadership and the other half on topics in business ethics. Besides these general areas of research, the book explores how to teach and study ethics in both business ethics and leadership studies. Specifically, it examines issues ranging from the nature of ethical leadership, to studies of authenticity, virtue, and the public and private morality of leaders. In business ethics, the subjects covered span from moral imagination, to casuistry, meaningful work, and workplace ethics. The book includes a section on the importance of liberal arts for studying and teaching ethics in business and professional schools. It concludes with a reflection on the ethical challenges of leaders and followers in a world where some leaders have inverted moral values.

Good Business written by James O'Toole and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-13 with Business & Economics categories.

This illuminating and practical collection of essays addresses the increasingly important topics of corporate ethics, social responsibility, and sustainability in the context of effective global business strategies. Instead of condemning business, or exhorting corporate leaders to "do good," the authors deal with the "hot button" issues of our time in a cool and rational manner, seeing them as opportunities rather than as problems. As the authors illustrate, there is no necessary trade-off between business leaders doing the right thing, on one hand, and the profitable thing, on the other. They demonstrate that ethics is not peripheral, or in addition to, the central concerns of business. To the contrary, ethics and good citizenship are at the heart of all good business strategies, decisions, and organizational cultures. These essays offer useful examples of how executives can create strategies and cultures that are, both and at the same time, ethical and effective--the essence of GOOD BUSINESS. Perhaps the fundamental question in CSR is: What are the responsibilities of businesses and business leadership to society? Moreover, do the responsibilities of business change in times of social and political turmoil? The chapters in this book tackle several aspects of these questions with chapters on business and politics, the environment, technology, and immigration; along with broader questions about leadership, governance, and the very nature of CSR.

Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject Business economics - Business Ethics, Corporate Ethics, grade: 1.4, Egerton University, language: English, abstract: Everyone has the entitlement to privacy whether he/she is a public figure or a business leader. However, public life demands that individuals at the helm of leadership conceptualize certain things that guide their behaviour both in public and private situations. Becoming a corporate leader demands observing public service ethics, this in turn demands that individuals give public interest priority to shape their behaviours whether they are executing private or public life. It is not always conceivable that the ethical behaviour of leaders in their personal lives automatically reflect their ethical behaviour as business leaders. It is this conviction that makes it meaningful for individuals to have separate private and public lives. Usually, the image individuals volunteer to represent them in public might be hard to extend to private lives. Too often, the desire to improve business leadership has made it tempting to spy on individuals’ private lives to validate one’s authenticity to ethical leadership. This in essence stipulates that leaders should not take leave of personal ethics that makes them who they are even in private. Within the leadership principles, keeping to high ideals cherished in business leadership is the best way to carry one’s self whether in private or public space.

LEADERSHIP: Where Business Ethics Begin. This book has been written for individuals who find themselves in a position to step back and look at where they are as business participants, including those who are directly or indirectly involved in business. People whose participation is indirect are individuals who have a family member or friend involved/consumed with their position. This book can help in understanding what those business participants might be experiencing on physical, mental, emotional, and psychological levels. Chapter One: "This book is about awareness* and the role it plays in significantly increasing our quality of life and our ability to create value for ourselves and others." Chapter Two: "Focusing on what is happening around you and then detaching from the result was one of the main ideas presented in chapter 1." Chapter Three: "Out of expanding awareness comes what I have dubbed 180-degree vision*." Chapter Four: "The ability to manage the Four Ss by integrating a company's STRATEGY with evolving knowledge and information within the SCIENCE, SERVICE, and SPIRITUAL arenas requires an expanded awareness of personal service." Chapter Five: "As stated in prior chapters, our vision or understanding of our role as a leader is impacted almost completely by our awareness and understanding of life and the human condition." Chapter Six: "Leaders that begin to see with 180-degree vision as a result of increasing awareness will realize a powerful change in experience and success. They will intuitively focus on longer term issues..." Chapter Seven: "I first heard of the idea of 'frame of reference' when I attended a program presented by Stephen R. Covey, author of the book Seven Activities of Highly Successful People." Chapter Eight: " This chapter] is an interview the author's daughter requested of him as partial fulfillment of her World Religion class at the community college she was attending." Book Description Building and Surviving a Successful Career: How we go about building on our careers has much to do with our frame of reference and awareness of the root cause of how we have become participants within business and the value it creates. Whether it is from a job or mercenary perspective (due to our need to make a living and provide for those around us) or as that of advocates who approach their positions with the intensity of avocations, much of what happens has to do about our ideas or perceptions of what our roles should or can be over the lifetime of our career. Therefore, what we end up with as a result of this business activity is up to us. For leaders and participants, the reality is that we attract and maintain others of like ideas and perspectives around us. It is in this attracting process that our quality of life can be impacted significantly along very positive avenues when we understand the roles we play.

Integrity In Business And Management written by Marc Orlitzky and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-06 with Business & Economics categories.

This book highlights the interconnectedness of integrity with philosophical history, leadership, managerial decision-making, and organizational effectiveness in a wide variety of contexts (e.g., time theft in organizations and family business). Well-known researchers in business ethics from all around the world reframe the literature on integrity in business and management and develop updated and more comprehensive models of integrity. Integrity in Business and Management connects integrity to both ancient thought and the modern philosophy of pragmatism, but also explains how contemporary societal trends may shape the way we think about integrity. The final chapter warns against oversocialized conceptualizations of integrity and argues for a clear differentiation between personal integrity and moral integrity. Aimed at researchers and academics in the fields of business ethics and organizational leadership, Integrity in Business and Management explicates and critiques prior models of managerial integrity in a wide variety of disciplines, covering economics, moral philosophy, business ethics, organizational behavior, sociology, history, and psychology and offers a helpful set of readings in advanced undergraduate and postgraduate courses of business ethics, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, and leadership to stimulate discussions about personal integrity, moral integrity, and organizational leadership.
