El fuerte impulso que la literatura guineoecuatoriana ha sufrido desde la década de los 90 del pasado siglo, la presencia cada vez mayor de la literatura saharaui y de la del norte de Marruecos, ambas en español, así como la emergencia de una serie de autores de origen africano que, sin contacto colonial con nuestras lenguas, optan por utilizarlas como herramienta de creación, han determinado, sin duda, la formación de un corpus heterogéneo, en su consolidación, producción y calidad, que requiere atención y difusión. En este volumen, con la participación de especialistas en la materia, se aborda la escritura de autores y autoras que por motivos históricos derivados de la colonización, por razones de exilio, político u económico, o por elección comunicativa, han asumido el castellano, el catalán o el gallego como lenguas de creación literaria. Partiendo de esta realidad, se analiza en qué medida estas escrituras hispanoafricanas acercan un nuevo panorama literario y social a un lectorado aún no familiarizado con él. En esta misma línea y como ampliación de ella, parece igualmente importante y necesaria una aproximación al lugar que ocupa la recepción y traducción de las literaturas africanas escritas en otras lenguas en el contexto español. A todo ello se dedica el presente volumen.

De Guinea Ecuatorial a las literaturas hispaanoafricanas recoge un conjunto de ensayos de investigadores y estudiosos de diferentes procedencias, que trabajan y consolidan con empeño las literaturas africanas escritas en español, para su legitimación como campo literario y crítico. Estos ensayos hacen un nutrido balance de contextos y textos, límites y prioridades estéticas, tendencias, tensiones entre tradición y renovación en las literaturas hispanoafricanas: ahondan en una variedad de temáticas, entre otras, las interconexiones entre creaciones literarias hispanoafricanas y otras tradiciones literarias (hispanoamericanas), su singularidad frente a las literaturas africanas escritas en otras lenguas (francés, inglés, portugués…), las peculiaridades de las voces hispanocamerunesas, las conjunciones y disyunciones en la narrativa de Donato Ndongo, las estrategias en la construcción de la identidad literaria, las interrelaciones entre lengua-identidadliteratura, la apropiación y la elaboración de una lengua propia de escritura, la representación de una alteridad lingüística y cultural. En fin, de manera general, los diferentes trabajos de críticos, filólogos, lingüistas, abren amplias perspectivas y muestran la inédita vigencia de una literatura africana en lengua española, desde un acercamiento de autores, textos individualizados, colocados en su tiempo, en la historia literaria nacional y continental, en su espacio de producción, sin obviar sus relaciones con los procedimientos y las formas orales, la interdependencia entre creación, edición, difusión y recepción. De Guinea Ecuatorial a las literaturas hispanoafricanas refuerza una red productiva de estudiosos, desde un hispanismo alternativo, que contribuyen en la irradiación de las literaturas africanas en lengua española y en la inscripción de los estudios literarios hispanoafricanos en la investigación científica, en la enseñanza universitaria y en el ámbito editorial en el marco global actual de inevitables confluencias culturales e interacciones literarias.

This is the first book to interpret the African dimension of contemporary Hispanic literature. Equatorial Guinea, a former Spanish colony, is the only African country in which Spanish is an official language and which has a tradition of literature in Spanish. This is a study of the literature produced by the nation’s writers from 2007 to 2013. Since its independence in 1968, Equatorial Guinea has been ruled by dictators under whom ethnic differences have been exacerbated, poverty and violence have increased, and critical voices have been silenced. The result has been an exodus of intellectuals—including writers who express their national and exile experiences in their poems, plays, short stories, and novels. The writers discussed include Juan Tomás Ávila Laurel, Donato Ndongo-Bidyogo, and Guillermina Mekuy, among others.

This volume brings forward a descriptive approach to the translation and reception of African American women’s literature in Spain. Aunque el español es uno de los idiomas oficiales en el Sahara Occidental, la literatura saharaui y marroquí en español ha sido poco conocida. Alain Lawo-Sukam abre con este libro una nueva ventana al mundo literario africano-hispano, ampliando así el conocimiento de la literatura hispanófona en África. La persistencia del español en las comunidades saharauis no solo responde a la herencia colonial, sino al deseo de fomentar una identidad heterogénea -la del único país árabe que "habla, piensa y sueña, y se siente en español" -y, por lo tanto, de encontrar en el idioma una forma de desmarcarse de la francofonización y resistir frente a los ocupantes de su territorio, el de la República Árabe Saharaui Democrática, el único estado africano colonizado en la actualidad. Como señala el autor, "La literatura saharaui en español -y sobre todo la contemporánea -se erige como el tercer poder de la diplomacia saharaui, siendo el Frente Polisario el primer poder y el segundo, el pueblo saharaui. La literatura participa de manera eficaz en el despertar de las conciencias internacionales sobre la vida, la identidad y el destino del pueblo saharaui doblemente colonizado en su tierra y también exiliado de ella". A ella suma el estudio, la literatura marroquí en español, y los elementos comunes y conflictivos, en un contexto cruzado por mi tradición, la colonialidad, la globalización, la interculturalidad, desde donde narra y poetizan experienias como la migratoria a que se ven abocados sus jóvenes, la reivindicación de la memoria de Al-Ándalus, el pasado colonial y sus injusticias, las contradcciones marroquíes-saharauis y la umma (la comunidad musulmana), y la fraternidad iniversal. El universo narrativo y poético marroquí y saharaui en español registrado por Lawo-Sukam es un tesoro literario. Este libro muestra que en África hay más que literaturas francófonas, anglófonas y árabes, y que el español, como idioma de ceación artística, es un vehículo para el diálogo de culturas y que hace posible el multiculturalismo. La literatura en español en África es una realidad en pleno auge, y se constituye en el tercer polo del hispanismo mundial después de España y las Américas. Su voz debe ser oída, aceptada, considerada y estudiada.
