Seminar paper from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,3, AKAD University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart, language: English, abstract: The goal of this written paper is to show managers how they need to change their leadership style due to working in a home office, how they can prepare for it, and what skills are required for this. How does or must leadership change because of the work in the home office? What new style of leadership does this entail? And how can managers adapt to the new change? Due to the current fourth industrial revolution, digitalization is not only changing the way we live but also the way we work, thus having a decisive impact on the growth as well as the innovative power of companies and organizations. Many companies are undergoing a digital transformation in response to this change. Mobile working in itself has been an integral part of the working world for several years now. Open-plan offices are already a thing of the past in many companies, and fixed workstations are no longer assigned. For employees, this is accompanied by the loss of collegial as well as personal relationships. Managers are also faced with the challenge of not only managing their teams virtually, but also driving digital change processes within the company. At the beginning of this assignment, we will first take a closer look at the term leadership in order to provide a basic understanding, followed by digital leadership and a brief explanation of the home office in the next chapter. In the next chapter, the question of how leadership must change as a result of work in the home office is explained. It also looks at how exactly managers can prepare for this and what qualifications and characteristics are needed for this new style of leadership in order to adapt optimally to the new change. The entire topic is then made clear by means of an independently selected example. The last two chapters then provide an outlook on the future of the home office, as well as a conclusion and a critical appraisal.

Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Employee Motivation, grade: 1.3, AKAD University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart, language: English, abstract: The goal of this thesis is to explore New Work, New leadership, as well as Home/Mobile Office and answer the modal goal: How Leadership change to manage employees in the home/mobile office. First, the terms home office, leadership as well as New Work and New Leadership are defined to create a theoretical basis. I will then explain which new methods managers can use to manage employees in the home office and which tools are necessary for this. After this, the theoretical methods will be reviewed with a mini survey, in which the previously explained areas were evaluated in a current environment in order to determine the extent to which the methods are applied in the current working environment. This assignment concludes with an answer of the modal goal and a description of the research results, as well as a discussion, critical reflection and an outlook. Home office, mobile office, teleworking, and hybrid teams. The coronavirus pandemic has changed the world of work significantly and for the long term. Within a very short time, a majority of employees have been transferred from company offices to their home offices, which many companies continued even after the pandemic. However, this has not only been a major change for employees, who had to get used to it as quickly as possible. The home office has also brought some challenges for management and executives that need to be faced. Because of the reduced direct employee contact and physical distance, employees have to be managed from a distance.1 But how can employee management also be conducted in the home office and how Leadership change because of this new Situation? To answer this question, I have dealt in the following assignment with the problem: What is New Work, New Leadership and home/mobile office? as well as the modal goal: How Leadership change to manage employees in the home/mobile office?

Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Leadership, grade: 1,3, AKAD University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart (Wirtschaftswissenschaften), course: PER73 - Cases in Leadership, language: English, abstract: Leadership is changing. Managers are faced with new challenges caused by globalization, digital transformation and a shortage of skilled workers due to demographic change. Working conditions, flexible work models like the implementation of home office or mobile office have become more important and the terms digital leadership and new leadership arise. Consequently, it is not only important that leadership changes for the company to be competitive in the markets, but also to position itself as a more competitive employer in the job market. From the point of view of leadership, due to the spatial separation through working remote, a tension arises between proximity and distance and a conflict between control and trust or between integration and laissez-faire.

Academic Paper in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, , language: English, abstract: The central research topic of this paper is to present these causal relationships, interactions and the role model function of corporate management, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. A paradigmatic application case is ergonomic workplace design and company integration management. For empirical validation, guideline-based expert interviews were conducted as part of a pilot study. The evaluation according to Mayring of the general aspects, workplace health promotion and workplace health management in the surveyed companies or small and medium-sized enterprises revealed the following: The vast majority (six out of eight) of the interviewed companies have already established workplace health management and workplace health promotion. Corresponding background knowledge is available, and the instruments developed for this purpose are consciously used to increase (external and internal) employer attractiveness, to promote employee retention and commitment. Occupational health management and workplace health promotion can counteract a negative trend in individual sectors and facilitate staff recruitment. It also reduces absenteeism and improves company performance indicators. The involvement of the primarily responsible management and organisational anchoring in the company are named as decisive prerequisites for success. Modern forms of work organisation (remote work and home office) also play a special role. The workforce reacts predominantly with approval, especially since today's labour market is an employee market. The modern economic and working world is dominated by two megatrends: globalisation and digitalisation. Companies have to do everything they can to survive economically in a competitive situation that has become more intense as a result. The work situation is therefore becoming increasingly complex and stressful. This leads to increased mental and physical strain on employees, is the cause of their dissatisfaction and promotes absenteeism and presenteeism. A growing shortage of skilled workers and demographic change also ensure that the demand for workplace health promotion and comprehensive corporate health management is gaining ground. Health and satisfaction at the workplace ensure motivation and commitment, increase company results and value even in times of crisis and have an indirect effect on public health.

The world as we know it has changed. Even businesses that long declared that working from home wasn’t an option have found themselves adjusting and overhauling their business models, since the only other alternative is to close. Despite being thrust into this “new normal,” businesses and their displaced staff have risen to the challenges and acclimatized to ways of working remotely. Since then, the idea of managing remote workers has grown and become more widely accepted as a viable way to do business. If your business needs more employees but you don’t have the office space to accommodate them; if someone on your staff wants to work from home; you want to promote a flexible work environment but fear losing profits; or you simply need to adapt due to a pandemic as so many have had to do, managing remote staff may be the answer. Managing Remote Staff: Capitalize on Work-from-Home Productivity explains how to: • Determine whether remote staffing is right for your company • Assess new and current candidates • Train managers and employees remotely • Help at-home or off-site staff to cope • Set up the home office • Measure the success of your program • Take care of the legal details This book provides managers with the tools to set up and maintain a productive remote staffing program that benefits both employees and employers.

A bigger and bigger part of the workforce is telecommuting. And managers need new skills to get the most out of this increasingly far-flung staff. This indispensable guide includes case studies, checklists, and sample forms and charts. It shows managers how to use teleconferencing technology to communicate with distanced workers, make the best use of scheduling software to monitor productivity, and even end the arrangement if it's not working. One of the best ways for companies to save money in lean times is to send their employees home to work. But that requires a different kind of workforce and a different kind of management. This book shows how to make the long-distance relationship work for everyone!

New Ways Of Organizing Work written by Clare Kelliher and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-10-06 with Business & Economics categories.

New Ways of Organizing Work offers a broader understanding of changes to the way work is organized and the implications for relevant stakeholders. It brings together contributions from a well established group of international scholars to examine the nature and consequences of new ways of working. The book draws on studies of a variety of new forms of work, involving a diverse range of employees and drawing on experiences in a variety of countries. It includes three main empirical sections. The first focuses on different forms of work and working arrangements, stimulated by the use of technology, increased competitive pressure and media portrayal of work and working. In contrast to much other work in the field, a strong theme of this book is individuals’ experiences of new ways of working. The second empirical section examines this theme with a specific focus on remote workers and their responses to new ways of working. Exploring contemporary trends towards increasing use of global teams, the third section examines the implications of distributed teams and the challenges for managing performance and knowledge transfer.
