This thesis describes the measurement of the direct CP violation in the b → sc$\bar{c}$ transition using the decay B+ → J/[Psi]K+, and in the b → dc$\bar{c}$ transition using the decay B+ → J/[Psi][pi]+. The decays of B+ mesons are reconstructed in approximately 2.8 fb-1 of data recorded by D0 detector in 2002-2007 during Run II of Fermilab Tevatron collider. Using the unbinned likelihood fit, a signal of 40,222 ± 242 of B+ → J/[Psi]K+ and 1,578 ± 119 of B+ → J/[Psi][pi]+ events is obtained. The corresponding direct CP violation asymmetries are measured to be ACP(B+ → J/[Psi](1S)K+) = +0.0077 ± 0.0061(stat.) ± 0.0027(syst.), and ACP(B+ → J/[Psi](1S)[pi]+) = - 0.089 ± 0.081(stat.) ± 0.028(syst.). The result on ACP (B+ → J/[Psi](1S)K+) is consistent with the 2007 world average and is the most precise measurement of this asymmetry, with uncertainty approaching the level of the Standard Model prediction. The result on ACP (B+ → J/[Psi](1S)[pi]+) constitutes the first measurement of this asymmetry at the hadron collider, with uncertainty at the level of the 2007 world average. The measurement presented in this thesis has become possible due to the sophisticated online and offline tracking/vertexing implemented at D0, and the regular reversal of the polarities of the D0 detector magnets.

The BABAR experiment at SLAC provides an opportunity for measurement of CP violation in B decays. A measurement of time-dependent CP violating asymmetries using exclusive B meson decays where the b quark decays to c{bar c}d (including B° 2!D*D*− and B° 2!D*{sup ±}D{sup {-+}} decays) is presented here. This is the first measurement of CP violation in a mode sensitive to the Unitarity Triangle parameter sin2[beta] outside of decays containing charmonium. It provides a comparison to measurements of sin2[beta] using b 2!c{bar c}s, and permits an observation into potential new physics sources of CP violation, such as supersymmetry, via differences between these measurements and those of B° 2!J/[psi] K{sub S}° as statistics of reconstructed neutral B decays to D{sup (*)+} D{sup (*)-} increase. The measured value of the time-dependent CP violating asymmetries are: S = 0.38 ± 0.88(stat) ± 0.12(syst) and C = -0.30 ± 0.50(stat) ± 0.13(syst) for B° 2!D*− D; S = -0.43 ± 1.41(stat) ± 0.23(syst) and C = 0.53 ± 0.74(stat) ± 0.15(syst) for B° 2!D*+ D−; and S = -0.05 ± 0.45(stat) ± 0.05(syst) and C = 0.12 ± 0.30(stat) {+-} 0.05(syst) for B° 2!D*− D+; where S corresponds to CP violation in the interference of mixing and decay and C corresponds to CP violation in decay.

The authors present a search for direct CP violation in B{sup ±} 2!J/[psi]K{sup ±}[pi]{sup ±} decays. The event sample is selected from 2.8 fb−1 of p{bar p} collisions recorded by D0 experiment in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The charge asymmetry A{sub CP}(B 2!J/[psi]K) = +0.0075 ± 0.0061(stat.) {+-} 0.0027(syst.) is obtained using a sample of approximately 40 thousand B{sup {+-}} 2!J/[psi]K{sup {+-}} decays. The achieved precision is of the same level as the expected deviation predicted by some extensions of the standard model. They also measured the charge asymmetry A{sub CP}(B+ 2!J/[psi][pi]+) = -0.09 {+-} 0.08(stat.){+-}0.03(syst.).

This note describes results of a study of acceptance and backgrounds in the SDC detector for the neutral B meson decay B{sub d}° → [psi]K{sub S}°. The aim here is to explore the possibility of observing CP violation in the B system -- a significant physics measurement that may be possible at the SSC during the period of time when the accelerator is ramping up to design luminosity. Section 2 describes the theoretical predictions for b{bar b} quark production at the SSC and the signal for CP violation in the B meson system. The following section outlines the cuts used to isolate B{sub d}° → [psi]K{sub S}° decays and presents the expected rates for signal and background. The authors measure the time-dependent CP asymmetry parameters in B0 2!K+K-K0 based on a data sample of approximately 277 million B-meson pairs recorded at the Y(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-meson Factory at SLAC. They reconstruct two-body B0 decays to [Phi](1020)K$0\atop{S}$ and [Phi](1020)K$0\atop{L}$. Using a time-dependent maximum-likelihood fit, they measure sin2[beta]eff([Phi]K0) = 0.48 ± 0.28 ± 0.10, and C([Phi]K0) = 0.16 ± 0.25 ± 0.09, where the first error is statistical, and the second is systematic. They also present measurements of the CP-violating asymmetries in the decay B0 2!f0(2![pi]+[pi]- )K$0\atop{S}$. The results are obtained from a data sample of 209 x 106 Y(4S) 2!B$\bar{B}$ decays, also collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. From a time-dependent maximum-likelihood fit they measure the mixing-induced CP violation parameter S(f0(980)K$0\atop{S}$) = - sin 2[beta]efff0(980)K$0\atop{S}$ = -0.95$+0.32\atop{-0.23}$ ± 0.10 and the direct CP violation parameter C(f0(980)K$0\atop{S}$) = - 0.24 ± 0.31 ± 0.15, where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. Finally, they present a measurement of the branching fraction of the decay B0 2!f0(2![pi]+[pi]- )K$0\atop{S}$. From a time-dependent maximum likelihood fit to a data sample of 123 x 106 Y(4S) 2!B$\bar{B}$ decays they find 93.6 ± 13.6 ± 6.4 signal events corresponding to a branching fraction of [beta](B0 2!f0(980)(2![pi]+[pi]- )K0) = (6.0 ± 0.9 ± 0.6 ± 1.2) x 10-6, where the first error is statistical, the second systematic, and the third due to model uncertainties.
