Optical scanning holography (OSH) is an emerging area of interest with many potential novel applications, such as 3-D pattern recognition, 3-D microscopy, 3-D cryptography, and 3-D optical remote sensing. Optical Scanning Holography with MATLAB® introduces readers to the latest advances of electronic (or digital) holography and succinctly covers the necessary mathematical background and wave optics that pertain to Fourier optics and holography. The reader is guided through modeling of the theory and applications utilizing MATLAB®. Optical scanning holography is explained in a manner that enables readers to begin implementing their own setups for novel OSH applications. Optical Scanning Holography with MATLAB® consists of tutorials (with numerous MATLAB® examples throughout the text) and research material, as well as new ideas and insights for graduate students, scientists, and engineers working in the fields of Fourier optics, optical scanning imaging, and holography.

Making a clear distinction is made between nano- and micro-mechanical testing for physical reasons, this monograph describes the basics and applications of the supermicroscopies AFM and SNOM, and of the nanomechanical testing on rough and technical natural surfaces in the submicron range down to a lateral resolution of a few nm. New or improved instrumentation, new physical laws and unforeseen new applications in all branches of natural sciences (around physics, chemistry, mineralogy, materials science, biology and medicine) and nanotechnology are covered as well as the sources for pitfalls and errors. It outlines the handling of natural and technical samples in relation to those of flat standard samples and emphasizes new special features. Pitfalls and sources of errors are clearly demonstrated as well as their efficient remedy when going from molecularly flat to rough surfaces. The academic or industrial scientist learns how to apply the principles for tackling their scientific or manufacturing tasks that include roughness far away from standard samples.

Micromachined Mirrors written by Robert Conant and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-17 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Micromachined Mirrors provides an overview of the performance enhancements that will be realized by miniaturizing scanning mirrors like those used for laser printers and barcode scanners, and the newly enabled applications, including raster-scanning projection video displays and compact, high-speed fiber-optic components. There are a wide variety of methods used to fabricate micromachined mirrors - each with its advantages and disadvantages. There are, however, performance criteria common to mirrors made from any of these fabrication processes. For example, optical resolution is related to the mirror aperture, the mirror flatness, and the scan angle. Micromachined Mirrors provides a framework for the design of micromirrors, and derives equations showing the fundamental limits for micromirror performance. These limits provide the micromirror designer tools with which to determine the acceptable mirror geometries, and to quickly and easily determine the range of possible mirror optical resolution and scan speed.
