The Psychology Of Employee Empowerment written by Rozana Ahmad Huq and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-03 with Business & Economics categories.

The complexities of employee empowerment have been largely underestimated and it is clear that organisations struggle with putting the concept into practice. Rozana Ahmad Huq recognises that effective utilisation of human resources is a strategic issue for organisations. Hierarchical organisations struggle to survive. The growing trend for downsizing and merging of organisations means that they can no longer maintain the 'command and control' approach and employees are given more responsibility and expected to take decisions. However, simply burdening employees with extra responsibility without empowering them does not deliver results. Drawing on her own research in organisations, Dr Huq investigates the concept of empowerment in a new way that combines themes from the disciplines of management and social work, the latter being a domain where empowerment is an important construct. This helps to bridge the gaps in knowledge in the management domain and draws attention to the positive and negative psychological implications for employees of the practice of empowerment that are often ignored by leaders and managers. Ultimately, the author offers a 'practice model' to help people in management and non-management understand the new roles and behaviours that they need to adopt if empowerment is to become a reality. This book is a resource for any business or other organisation genuinely interested in employee empowerment and for those with a responsibility for teaching about it.

As modern organizations seek for changes to enhance their competitive positions and their survivability in global markets, the successful implementation of organizational change has become an important management task. But still, many companies are unable to succeed in change processes. Failures show that there is considerable room for researchers to provide insights into opportunities for improving the success of organizational change events. Given the fact that individuals are the most important units in organizational change, a successful implementation requires employees’ acceptance and support. Hence, employees’ positive attitudes and their Work Engagement are considered to be fundamental requirements. Nevertheless, there is limited understanding of the multitudinous factors associated with employees ́ decision to support organizational change. Basically, organizational change is stressful as it requires the readiness to embrace change and the readjustment of employees’ routine tasks. In this regard, leadership is considered to be one of the most important variables affecting the attitudinal dimension of organizational processes. Empowering Leadership implies sharing power to foster employees’ motivation and engagement in their work. Empowering Leadership emerges when supervisors foster trust-based relationships with followers, show interest in their personal problems, facilitate participative decision-making and coach them to be more self-reliant. However, relatively few studies have tested how and why Empowering Leadership relates to Follower Work Engagement in organizational change environments. This study tries to cover exactly these points.

Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Employee Motivation, Employee Satisfaction, grade: 1,3, AKAD University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart, language: English, abstract: In this paper, the author analyzes the conditions for the implementation of employee motivation through empowerment by scrutinizing the possible ways of interaction between superiors and subordinates and the boundary contingencies as contributory factors in job satisfaction. Stretching the bow from the definition of core terms of investigation to leadership tools, styles and principles, she outlines the organizational set-up which shall enhance the successful empowerment processes. She argues that empowerment must come from a cooperative leadership style which accounts for delegation, mutual trust and communication and therefore increases the likelihood for employee satisfaction. She will show that empowerment constitutes a sufficient condition for employee motivation and evokes the creation of new forms of interaction. Leadership has a key role to play in employee satisfaction and can be wisely used to serve both individual contentedness and organizational objectives. The matter of motivation and volition are two powerful starting points of contemporary leadership research. For bosses, leaders and superiors, it has always been a crucial question to identify employees’ motives and manage their translation into driving forces being beneficial to the conduct of business. There is strong evidence that empowering employees will increase their motivation considerably and hence contribute to overall improved organizational productivity. The implementation of employee motivation - as well as a fundamental understanding of individual behavioral patterns - seem to be the universal keys to individual progress and organizational efficiency.
