Der Konstruktivismus wird in der gegenwärtigen Kindheitsforschung sowie den wissenschaftlichen Diskussionen zu neuen und bedeutsamen Argumentationsketten kultiviert und sorgt damit für eine Evolution und Schwerpunktverschiebung in den wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen. Ferner werden neue Konstruktionen und somit neue Bilder von Kindern und Kindheit(en) entwickelt, an denen die Kinder selbst beteiligt sein sollen. Schäfer vertritt z. B. die Auffassung, es gehe darum, einen Bildungsbegriff, der unabhängig vom historischen und sozialen Kontext ist, ‘inhaltlich zu füllen’ und ‘nachvollziehbar’ zu machen. Er bedient sich zu diesem Zweck entwicklungspsychologischer Argumentationslinien, die der konstruktivistischen Tradition Piaget’scher Prägung entstammen. Konstruktivistische Konzepte gehen davon aus, dass Wirklichkeit konstruiert, also vom Menschen geschaffen wird, und dass es eine allgemeingültige und intersubjektiv erfassbare Wirklichkeit nicht gibt. Daher rücken Konzepte über die Eigenkonstruktivität von Wirklichkeit in den Fokus. Diese Konzepte und Konstruktionen entstehen im Besonderen durch die Interaktion mit der materiellen und soziokulturellen Umwelt, wobei Termini wie Assimilation, also die Interpretation neuer Informationen aus der Umwelt aufgrund von Vorkenntnissen, und die Akkommodation, die Modifizierung von Wissen aufgrund von neuen Erfahrungen, eine bedeutende Rolle spielen. Glasersfeld skizziert das Prinzip der Assimilation wie folgt: ‘das aktive Operieren des Subjekts in Bezug auf das, was wir Regelmäßigkeit oder Konstanz in der Erlebniswelt nennen. Sowohl Regelmäßigkeit als auch Konstanz setzten wiederholtes Erleben voraus, und Wiederholung kann nur auf Grund eines Vergleichs festgestellt werden, der ein Gleichheitsurteil liefert’. Die Expansion des Konstruktivismus’ in verschiedenen Bereichen der pädagogischen Felder ist für die Autorin Anlass, die Frage nach seinem Weg in und seinem Einfluss auf die ästhetische Didaktik im Elementarbereich zu stellen. Die Fragestellung wird mit dem Fokus auf zwei pädagogische Teildisziplinen verfolgt. Zum einen betrifft dies die Disziplin der Kindheitsforschung und zum anderen die Didaktik des ästhetisch- konstruktiven Unterrichts. Ausgehend von der Überlegung, dass mit einer konstruktivistischen Konkretisierung des ästhetischen Lernens die Aneignung von Gestaltungskompetenz gefördert werden kann, lautet die Fragestellung dieser Untersuchung: Wie kann das ästhetisch-konstruktivistisch orientierte Lernen das Kind als Forscher und Konstrukteur seiner Entwicklung unterstützen?

Concept Mapping in Mathematics: Research into Practice is the first comprehensive book on concept mapping in mathematics.
