Unlike the conventional research for the general theory of stability, this mono graph deals with problems on stability and stabilization of dynamic systems with respect not to all but just to a given part of the variables characterizing these systems. Such problems are often referred to as the problems of partial stability (stabilization). They naturally arise in applications either from the requirement of proper performance of a system or in assessing system capa bility. In addition, a lot of actual (or desired) phenomena can be formulated in terms of these problems and be analyzed with these problems taken as the basis. The following multiaspect phenomena and problems can be indicated: • "Lotka-Volterra ecological principle of extinction;" • focusing and acceleration of particles in electromagnetic fields; • "drift" of the gyroscope axis; • stabilization of a spacecraft by specially arranged relative motion of rotors connected to it. Also very effective is the approach to the problem of stability (stabilization) with respect to all the variables based on preliminary analysis of partial sta bility (stabilization). A. M. Lyapunov, the founder of the modern theory of stability, was the first to formulate the problem of partial stability. Later, works by V. V. Rumyan tsev drew the attention of many mathematicians and mechanicians around the world to this problem, which resulted in its being intensively worked out. The method of Lyapunov functions became the key investigative method which turned out to be very effective in analyzing both theoretic and applied problems.

Partial Stability and Control develops a new, efficient method of analysis and of control synthesis for problems on partial stability and control in dynamic systems described by ordinary differential equations, including delay, stochastic, and uncertain systems. The method is based on efficient procedures of transformation on initial systems or their subsystems, for controlled systems, and allows the solutions to be simplified. In addition, the method also allows many linear and nonlinear problems to be solved that cannot be easily done with available methods. Ample attention is given to nonlinear game-theoretical problems of reorientation of an asymmetric solid. This book will be a valuable reference for advanced graduates and professionals in applied mathematics, mechanics and control, and control engineering who use stability theory and control methods.

Recently, the subject of nonlinear control systems analysis has grown rapidly and this book provides a simple and self-contained presentation of their stability and feedback stabilization which enables the reader to learn and understand major techniques used in mathematical control theory. In particular: the important techniques of proving global stability properties are presented closely linked with corresponding methods of nonlinear feedback stabilization; a general framework of methods for proving stability is given, thus allowing the study of a wide class of nonlinear systems, including finite-dimensional systems described by ordinary differential equations, discrete-time systems, systems with delays and sampled-data systems; approaches to the proof of classical global stability properties are extended to non-classical global stability properties such as non-uniform-in-time stability and input-to-output stability; and new tools for stability analysis and control design of a wide class of nonlinear systems are introduced. The presentational emphasis of Stability and Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems is theoretical but the theory’s importance for concrete control problems is highlighted with a chapter specifically dedicated to applications and with numerous illustrative examples. Researchers working on nonlinear control theory will find this monograph of interest while graduate students of systems and control can also gain much insight and assistance from the methods and proofs detailed in this book.

Features new results and up-to-date advances in modeling and solving differential equations Introducing the various classes of functional differential equations, Functional Differential Equations: Advances and Applications presents the needed tools and topics to study the various classes of functional differential equations and is primarily concerned with the existence, uniqueness, and estimates of solutions to specific problems. The book focuses on the general theory of functional differential equations, provides the requisite mathematical background, and details the qualitative behavior of solutions to functional differential equations. The book addresses problems of stability, particularly for ordinary differential equations in which the theory can provide models for other classes of functional differential equations, and the stability of solutions is useful for the application of results within various fields of science, engineering, and economics. Functional Differential Equations: Advances and Applications also features: • Discussions on the classes of equations that cannot be solved to the highest order derivative, and in turn, addresses existence results and behavior types • Oscillatory motion and solutions that occur in many real-world phenomena as well as in man-made machines • Numerous examples and applications with a specific focus on ordinary differential equations and functional differential equations with finite delay • An appendix that introduces generalized Fourier series and Fourier analysis after periodicity and almost periodicity • An extensive Bibliography with over 550 references that connects the presented concepts to further topical exploration Functional Differential Equations: Advances and Applications is an ideal reference for academics and practitioners in applied mathematics, engineering, economics, and physics. The book is also an appropriate textbook for graduate- and PhD-level courses in applied mathematics, differential and difference equations, differential analysis, and dynamics processes. This volume presents a theoretical framework and control methodology for a class of complex dynamical systems characterised by high state space dimension, multiple inputs and outputs, significant nonlinearity, parametric uncertainty, and unmodeled dynamics. A unique feature of the authors' approach is the combination of rigorous concepts and methods of nonlinear control (invariant and attracting submanifolds, Lyapunov functions, exact linearisation, passification) with approximate decomposition results based on singular perturbations and decentralisation. Some results published previously in the Russian literature and not well known in the West are brought to light. Basic concepts of modern nonlinear control and motivating examples are given. Audience: This book will be useful for researchers, engineers, university lecturers and postgraduate students specialising in the fields of applied mathematics and engineering, such as automatic control, robotics, and control of vibrations.

Constructive Approaches To Submanifold Stabilization written by Jan Maximilian Montenbruck and has been published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-15 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Submanifold stabilization is the problem of steering a quantity towards a desired submanifold of the space in which it evolves. This is done by controlling the system producing the quantity in an appropriate fashion. In this thesis, methods for explicitly constructing controllers which solve submanifold stabilization problems are proposed. To this end, three distinct approaches are pursued: For control systems modeled by input-affne differential equations, a construction for turning the submanifold into an asymptotically stable invariant set is presented. For controllers which shall stabilize the submanifold with minimal energy consumption, the structure of such optimal controls is investigated. For control systems modeled by input-output relationships, a framework for bounding the integral deviation of the output from the submanifold is proposed.

Input To State Stability written by Andrii Mironchenko and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-03-30 with Science categories.
Input-to-State Stability presents the dominating stability paradigm in nonlinear control theory that revolutionized our view on stabilization of nonlinear systems, design of robust nonlinear observers, and stability of nonlinear interconnected control systems. The applications of input-to-state stability (ISS) are manifold and include mechatronics, aerospace engineering, and systems biology. Although the book concentrates on the ISS theory of finite-dimensional systems, it emphasizes the importance of a more general view of infinite-dimensional ISS theory. This permits the analysis of more general system classes and provides new perspectives on and a better understanding of the classical ISS theory for ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Features of the book include: • a comprehensive overview of the theoretical basis of ISS; • a description of the central applications of ISS in nonlinear control theory; • a detailed discussion of the role of small-gain methods in the stability of nonlinear networks; and • an in-depth comparison of ISS for finite- and infinite-dimensional systems. The book also provides a short overview of the ISS theory for other systems classes (partial differential equations, hybrid, impulsive, and time-delay systems) and surveys the available results for the important stability properties that are related to ISS. The reader should have a basic knowledge of analysis, Lebesgue integration theory, linear algebra, and the theory of ODEs but requires no prior knowledge of dynamical systems or stability theory. The author introduces all the necessary ideas within the book. Input-to-State Stability will interest researchers and graduate students studying nonlinear control from either a mathematical or engineering background. It is intended for active readers and contains numerous exercises of varying difficulty, which are integral to the text, complementing and widening the material developed in the monograph.
