Interrogating the respective fields of work, religion, governance, leisure, education and child rearing, together the essays in this volume explore and offer new ways of thinking about discipline in everyday life.

A brilliant work from the most influential philosopher since Sartre. The Proto Totalitarian State written by Dmitry Shlapentokh and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-05 with Political Science categories.

Totalitarian rule is commonly thought to derive from spe- cific ideologies that justify the complete control by the state of social, cultural, and political institutions. The major goal of this volume is to demonstrate that in some cases brutal forms of state control have been the only way to maintain basic social order.Dmitry Shlapentokh seeks to show that totalitarian or semi-totalitarian regimes have their roots in a fear of disorder that may overtake both rulers and the society at large. Although ideology has played an important role in many totalitarian regimes, it has not always been the chief reason for repression. In many cases, the desire to establish order led to internal terror and intrusiveness in all aspects of human life.Shlapentokh seeks the roots of this phenomenon in France in the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries, when asocial processes in the wake of the Hundred Years War led to the emergence of a brutal absolutist state whose features and policies bore a striking resemblance to totalitarian regimes in the Soviet Union and China. State punishment and control allowed for relentless drive to "normalize" society with the state actively engaged in the regulation of social life. There were attempts to regulate the economy and instances of social engineering, attempts to populate emerging colonial empires with exiles and produce "new men and women" through reeducation. This increased harshness in dealing with the populace, in fact, the emergence of a new sort of bondage, was combined with a twisted form of humanitarianism and the creation of a rudimentary safety net. Some of these elements can be found in the democratic societies of the modern West, although in their aggregation these attributes are essential features of totalitarian regimes of the modem era.

Would you like to improve your mind and reach high levels of self-control and self-discipline? Then keep reading... Self-discipline refers to the code of conduct that one prescribes for oneself in the microcosm to complete a given task or in the macrocosm under any circumstances to establish and enforce a certain standard of conduct. For example, it will be task-oriented self-discipline if I want to lose 10 pounds and decide on a three-month routine to follow a certain regime of discipline. On the other hand, when I choose to follow the "Do to others as you would have them do to you" Golden Rule, then I will become self-disciplined and follow a common pattern of behavior in my relationships. This book covers the following topics: - What is self-discipline? - How does mental resistance develop? A process that leads to mental toughness - How can we combine the strategies of the art of war in our daily life to stay disciplined and achieve our goals? - How do you identify a target? - How to stay focused and defeat your enemy? - How to manage our time and ourselves? - In the mind of samurai to change ourselves starting today - Goals to accomplish - How to remove mental blocks to avoid procrastination? - How meditation works? - Why doesn't failure exist? The obstacles serve to make us grow - How to apply these formulas you learned on the job? - The importance of concentration in life - Managing stress: tips and exercises to reduce stress ... And Much More! A plan is an incremental daily action that will lead us to the ultimate outcome. The first part of the project is to start where we are. Exercise is an element that we have to focus on in order to lose the desired weight. Our exercise regime, however, will depend on our current physical state. The time for resolutions is a New Year. Some resolutions will be forgotten by the end of January. If this occurs many times, we are used to a pattern of resolution-a pessimistic way of looking at any compromise that prevents us from forgiving ourselves. We stand in the deterministic philosophy of "we are what we are because we are what we are." So, most of us live in self-denial as we get disconnected from our origin and the resulting drain on our resources. The other side of the coin is that we can be self-disciplined and take our goals in life in order to stay linked to our roots. Creating an intention is described as an intense passion for a strong purpose with determined action to achieve the desired result. It is an expression of intention to create an affirmation. In our example, in three months, the objective is to lose ten pounds of weight. I have to become enthusiastic about this desire to make this desire a goal. The enthusiasm is created by visualizing myself that my goal has already been accomplished, followed by all the good and positive emotions that will flow from the performance. Once this is built in the consciousness, the affirmation will look like this, "I, Sanjay Behuria will weigh 130 pounds out of my current 140 pounds on April 12, 2009, to help me to lead a rich and safe life and look slim and sexy." Connect the Elements to have self-discipline is first to make a connection-a connection between the various elements that lead to the final result. This book covers the following topics: What is self-discipline? How does mental resistance develop? A process that leads to mental toughness How can we combine the strategies of the art of war in our daily life to stay disciplined and achieve our goals? How do you identify a target? How to stay focused and defeat your enemy? How to manage our time and ourselves?
