The book presents about 100 current examples of how energy and materials can be saved in manufacturing companies. They serve to show which measures can be used in modern companies to exploit the potential for resource efficiency. The book is aimed at practitioners in companies and consulting firms, but is also suitable for the university sector as a practical introduction to the topic of resource efficiency. The materials used account for almost 43 percent of the costs of an average industrial company in Germany. Personnel costs, on the other hand, are only 22 percent, while energy costs are as low as 2 percent. If a company wants to save costs, above all it must consider the use of materials and produce in a resource-efficient manner. This simultaneously relieves the environment and reduces dependence on scarce raw materials. The implementation of resource efficiency is not easy. There are indeed numerous starting points in production, often in process innovations or in product development. However, only a few companies publish their measures and savings potentials. In practice, this means that there are often no learning examples in practice, but some of them are explicitly listed in this work. As you can see, resource efficiency in production and products can also be seen as a success factor for many companies. In the project 100 Pioneers in Efficient Resource Management, committed companies from Baden-Wuerttemberg are showing their solutions. The project was carried out by a competent team from the Pforzheim University and the State Agency for Environmental Technology. Leading trade associations in Baden-Württemberg have supported it.

Since the 1990ies, organizations from different sectors have been operating in increasingly dynamic socio-economic environments characterized by unexpected events and instability. Organizations tend to adjust to dynamic environments by change initiatives promoting permanent reorganization. Such change initiatives often induce unintended effects, e.g. an erosion of trust, the violation of ‘psychological contracts’ in employees’ eyes or a decrease in organizational effectiveness. This book explores and analyzes whether such unintended effects can be anticipated or constructively dealt with by mindful change. The latter refers to the concept of organizational mindfulness that originally is linked to risk and safety research, e.g. in respect to ‘High Reliability Organizations’. In this book, organizational mindfulness is re-conceptualized addressing organizational change in the perspective of organizational sustainability. Moreover, it is explored how institutions foster or restrict organizations’ capability of organizational mindfulness in change processes.

In der von Hesiod in seinen Werken und Tagen beschriebenen bäuerlichen Lebenswelt ist für Erfolg weit mehr nötig als die bloße Kenntnis landwirtschaftlicher Arbeitsvorgänge. Insbesondere der Arbeitswille und das Bewusstsein für die den Menschen von Zeus vorgegebene Gerechtigkeit sind nach Hesiod entscheidende Kriterien für eine angemessene Lebensführung. Eine weitere, damit eng verbundene Grundvoraussetzung ist das Wissen um Aufbau und Pflege sozialer und religiöser Beziehungen. Erst wenn ein Landwirt diese immateriellen Ressourcen erkennt und aufbringt, ist ihm die erfolgreiche Gewinnung und Nutzung materieller Ressourcen möglich. Mithilfe des kulturwissenschaftlichen Ressourcenkonzepts des Sonderforschungsbereichs 1070 RESSOURCENKULTUREN erschließt die vorliegende Arbeit die poetische Präsentation sowie Bewertung der im Gedicht behandelten sozio-kulturellen Grundlagen und untersucht die Dynamiken zwischen ihnen. Des Weiteren wird verfolgt, wie Hesiod bäuerliche Ressourcen nutzt, um sein eigenes Selbstverständnis als Dichter herauszustellen. ******* In the rural world described by Hesiod in his Works and Days, success requires much more than prosaic knowledge of agricultural work processes. Especially, the willingness to work and the awareness of the justice given to mankind by Zeus are, according to Hesiod, crucial criteria for living an appropriate life. Another closely related requirement is the knowledge of establishing and maintaining social and religious relationships. Only in recognizing and raising these intangible resources can a farmer extract and use material resources successfully. Applying the resource concept of the Collaborative Research Centre 1070 RESOURCECULTURES, this study explores the poetic presentation and evaluation of the socio-cultural foundations dealt with in the poem and examines the dynamics between them. It also tracks how Hesiod uses rural resources to highlight and to evaluate his self-image as a poet.

Interdisciplinarity is significant in the age of globalization and digitalization. It creates new opportunities through comparison and analysis of different findings and methods. Furthermore, it expands the boundaries of each discipline: each topic or phenomenon can be viewed under a whole new light. Instead of conventional or traditional methods, interdisciplinary cooperation can lead to innovative approaches that can contribute to the value of each discipline involved. It also requires respect and recognition between disciplines: their independent positions could be questioned or justified based on their interrelationship. Moreover, interdisciplinary work brings together diverse experts who cooperate and share their findings with each other. In this sense, interdisciplinarity can be seen as a dialogue between disciplines. In this complex interaction, a 'third' field may emerge that transcends the boundaries of each independent discipline. Since relatively young Translation Studies has long been influenced by other disciplines, its boundaries could be defined through interdisciplinarity. In this book, numerous translation scholars engage with the relationship between translation and other disciplines. Translation here is not only to be understood as a transmission of texts, but in a broader sense, as denoting a transformation of different phenomena that could be studied both as a product and as a process.
