The productization of emerging technologies related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIR) is now getting more attention across different industries. Compared to the previous industrial transformations that the world has seen which relied on mechanical innovations, the ongoing FIR is seeing software and data-driven products as the foundation. Apart from that, topics such as circular and sustainable economy as well as climate change are also disrupting the industrial ecosystem. For a viable and successful productization of emerging technologies, collaborations between interdisciplinary stakeholders are a necessity. One of the elements that has been identified to facilitate this collaboration is service design. This book aimed to provide comprehensive service design discussions for practitioners in different fields and sectors. The aim is to bridge the knowledge gap between experts in academia, business and product development, among many others, to provide a unified understanding of the importance of service design for the productization of emerging technologies. The book consists of an overview of emerging technologies product development and service design, as well as perspectives from different sectors of the industry. The book is expected to benefit multi-disciplinary researchers, practitioners and general audiences with interests in Service Design for Emerging Technologies.

Systemic Service Design written by Mari Suoheimo and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-17 with Design categories.

Systemic Service Design provides a comprehensive overview of how systems theories can be integrated into service design to address complex social-economic-technological challenges. Across 14 chapters split into two sections, the book connects theoretical backgrounds and practical worldwide case studies to explore various approaches to systems thinking. The field of service design has evolved significantly in recent years, from focusing on touchpoints and user interactions to being seen as a driver for organizational transformation and increasingly, a key component in transdisciplinary spaces involving complex systems. However, while service design has grown over the past few decades, it has also recognized its limitations in addressing complex societal problems. For example, the book highlights how a lack of holistic understanding of the systems in place can lead to service failure, which ultimately results in societal issues relating to unemployment, healthcare, and public transportation. As such, this book offers theoretical and practical resources specifically tailored to service designers in order to equip them with the ability to develop solutions that are appropriate in scope, depth, and feasibility to address these complex issues. Contributing authors draw upon and integrate theories from related disciplinary fields to extend the contextualization of service design within complex systems, providing readers with more scientific frames of reference. The book also draws upon case studies from South and North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, to offer readers wide-ranging perspectives and real-life examples to further their understanding of systemic service design and demonstrate how to integrate it successfully. The book delivers theoretical and practical knowledge for students and designers in the fields of service design, design for policy, social design, and additionally for managers, public and private sector planners, engineers, and politicians. Empathic Service Design written by Melanie Sarantou and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-24 with Design categories.

Through case studies from across the globe, this book helps designers understand how forward-looking service prototyping, analysis and tools can promote and create empathic, emotion-oriented and relevant services. Despite services being at the core of organisations, to create service flows, designers, groups and their diverse stakeholders must negotiate ever more complex and hybrid interactions between human and more-than-human role players in service delivery. The challenge lies in delivering empathic, relevant and desirable services, despite these complexities. New knowledge is needed to bridge the gaps, uncertainties and even anxieties that organisations face in making their service delivery empathic and keeping them purposeful to users. Addressing problems within service delivery like empathy fatigue, poor collaboration, and siloed work experiences that lead to poorly-functioning systems, the authors suggest concrete solutions for developing empathetic approaches and tools with consideration for the needs of participants. The book critically examines the role of empathy, and explores how compassionate understanding of the end-user is key to success. Case studies include mapping of children's services, wearable technologies for pandemics, understanding cultural sensitivity, emojis and chat bots, and AI used in care settings.
