Smart Adaptive Systems On Silicon written by Maurizio Valle and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-05 with Science categories.

Intelligent/smart systems have become common practice in many engineering applications. On the other hand, current low cost standard CMOS technology (and future foreseeable developments) makes available enormous potentialities. The next breakthrough will be the design and development of "smart adaptive systems on silicon" i.e. very power and highly size efficient complete systems (i.e. sensing, computing and "actuating" actions) with intelligence on board on a single silicon die. Smart adaptive systems on silicon will be able to "adapt" autonomously to the changing environment and will be able to implement "intelligent" behaviour and both perceptual and cognitive tasks. At last, they will communicate through wireless channels, they will be battery supplied or remote powered (via inductive coupling) and they will be ubiquitous in our every day life. Although many books deal with research and engineering topics (i.e. algorithms, technology, implementations, etc.) few of them try to bridge the gap between them and to address the issues related to feasibility, reliability and applications. Smart Adaptive Systems on Silicon, though not exhaustive, tries to fill this gap and to give answers mainly to the feasibility and reliability issues. Smart Adaptive Systems on Silicon mainly focuses on the analog and mixed mode implementation on silicon because this approach is amenable of achieving impressive energy and size efficiency. Moreover, analog systems can be more easily interfaced with sensing and actuating devices.

Analog Circuit Design written by Rudy J. van de Plassche and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Computers categories.

This volume of Analog Circuit Design concentrates on three topics: Low-Power Low-Voltage Design; Integrated Filters, and Smart Power. The book comprises six papers on each topic written by internationally recognised experts. These papers have a tutorial nature aimed at improving the design of analog circuits. The book is divided into three parts: Part I, Low-Power Low-Voltage Design, describes the latest techniques for producing analog circuits with low-voltage low-power requirements. These circuits have an important role to play in the increasing trend towards portable products, where battery life is an important design factor. The papers cover design techniques for amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, micro-power analog filters and medical devices. Part II, Integrated Filters, presents papers which detail nearly all known techniques to construct integrated filters. These filters all use resistors and capacitors to obtain the filtering function due to the low quality of inductors in silicon. Integration of the filtering function on chips is important to reduce system cost and provide greater accuracy. Part III, Smart Power, illustrates up-to-date techniques for implementing thermal detectors and protection networks to improve reliability and the lifetime of many analog devices. These devices are more specifically those with different analog blocks operating at different temperatures. Smart Power is thus never limited to circuit design only, but must also include packaging and cooling considerations; it is system design. Analog Circuit Design is an essential reference source for analog design engineers wishing to keep abreast with the latest developments in the field. The tutorial nature of the contributions also makes the book suitable for use in an advanced course.

Silicon And Beyond written by Michael Shur and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The steady downscaling of device-feature size combined with a rapid increase in circuit complexity as well as the introduction of new device concepts based on non-silicon-material systems poses great challenges for device and circuit designers. One of the major tasks is the development of new and improved device models needed for accurate device and circuit design. Another task is the development of new circuit-simulation tools to handle very large and complex circuits. This book addresses both these issues with up-to-date reviews written by leading experts in the field. The first three chapters of the book discuss advanced device models both for existing technologies and for new, emerging technologies. Among the topics covered are models for MOSFETs, thin-film transitors (TFTs), and compound semiconductor devices, including GaAs HEMTs and HFETs, heterodimensional devices, quantum-tunneling devices, as well as wide-bandgap devices. Chapters 4 and 5 discuss advanced circuit simulators that hold promise for, handling circuits of much higher complexity than what is possible for typical state-of-the-art circuit simulators today.

This book provides a comprehensive insight into the operation of the main microelectronic devices in silicon integrated circuits. It covers the physics of semiconductor materials, linking their basic properties to those of devices. The field effect transistor, a major component of modern integrated circuits, is given comprehensive coverage, including updated characteristics and future prospects. SOI technology is also outlined, due to the important advantages resulting from this material for some applications and products. The bipolar junction transistor, also a useful device, especially for analog and RF functions, is described at ideal and real levels, along with a presentation of state-of-the-art technologies. The book concludes by discussing non-volatile solid-state memories, now currently embedded in many products, charge storage-based structures and emerging memory devices.
