Nowadays, compact fluorescent lamps are widely-used in general lighting applications. However, they still struggle with acceptance problems due to the hazardous mercury, which serves as the radiant component inside the lamp. The presented work deals with the development of a mercury-free, electrodeless, low pressure plasma based on a molecular filling and driven by microwaves, which may represent a viable alternative to the conventional CFLs. Die Fahrerintentionserkennung ermöglicht es den Fußgängern, die neuartigen Zeichen zu erlernen, indem der Fahrer und das Fahrzeug kommunizieren. - Especially pedestrians rely on the interaction with other road users. The introduction of automated driving systems withdraws this communication from drivers and thus, vehicles need to interact with pedestrians. Therefore, multiple vehicle-pedestrian-communication concepts are evaluated. A driver intention prediction allows pedestrians to learn these newly introduced signals, while driver and vehicle communicate simultaneously.

Aufgrund des großen Sichtfeldes bei guter Auflösung und gleichzeitig hoher Reichweite gelten LiDAR-Sensoren als eine elementare Komponente hochautomatisierter Fahrzeuge. Durch Anhaften von Verunreinigungen wie Regen oder Staub auf der Sensorschutzscheibe wird die Sensorfunktionalität stark eingeschränkt. In dieser Arbeit werden Methoden zur Detektion und Charakterisierung von Verunreinigungen vorgestellt, die eine intelligente und vollständig automatisierte Reinigung der Oberfläche ermöglichen. - By providing a high resolution at high distances in a broad field of view, LiDAR sensors are a key element in automated driving cars. However, in harsh environmental conditions, particles from rain or dust attach on the outer surface of the sensor and cause a degradation of the overall performance. This work introduces several methods to detect and characterize those particles, realizing the integration of an intelligent and fully automated cleaning system to restore the required performance.
