Die Kernkompetenzen von Auszubildenden objektiv und zuverlässig zu erfassen - unter Einsatz modernster Technologien -, das war das Ziel des Forschungsprogramms ASCOT. Dieser Band stellt Ergebnisse aus der vom BMBF geförderten Forschungsinitiative vor. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Messmodelle, Teststrategien und validierte Instrumente zur Ermittlung von Kompetenzen der Auszubildenden in ausgewählten Berufsfeldern (kaufmännisch-verwaltend, gewerblich-technisch, gesundheitlich-pflegerisch). Dazu wurden computergestützte Mess- und Prüfungssituationen erarbeitet, die dank standardisierter Abläufe überregional vergleichbare Ergebnisse liefern. Erste Anwendungsdaten zeigen Befunde über die Leistungsverteilung bei Auszubildenden und vermitteln Einblicke in die Bedingungskonstellationen des beruflichen Kompetenzerwerbs. Mit diesen Arbeiten legt das ASCOT-Programm zugleich die Grundlagen für eine künftige internationale Vergleichsstudie im Bereich der Berufsbildung.

Mittels einer systematischen Literaturanalyse identifiziert die Überblicksstudie Methoden der Kompetenzmessung bei Auszubildenden in der beruflichen Bildung im europäischen Ausland. 36 Studien liegen der Analyse zugrunde. Die Ergebnisse zeigen u. a., dass die Studien häufig aus den Niederlanden, der Türkei und der Schweiz stammen. Zumeist werden fachliche Kompetenzen, gefolgt von überfachlichen und allgemeinen Kompetenzen betrachtet. Papierbasierte Multiple-Choice-Tests, Fragebögen zur Selbsteinschätzung sowie Fremdeinschätzungen sind dominant. Die Informationen zu den Gütekriterien sind oft unzureichend für eine Bewertung.

Competence orientation has become a defining element of vocational education in German-speaking countries. In this context, tasks are considered the "transmission belts" to implement the reformed educational standards. In her dissertation the author takes a view on the systematic analysis of task characteristics as a method to inspect the degree of tasks' cognitive requirements. The theoretical-conceptual part of the dissertation gives a psychological and didactical justification of the principles underlying the tasks' cognitive requirement. The effects are analysed in two empirical studies. The first study takes a look on the basis of accounting tasks from Chinese vocational school textbooks, using the structuring content analysis (Mayring, 2008). The second empirical study inspects accounting teachers' perceptions and judgments by interviews. Based on the results, the author develops suggestions for the use of the concept of tasks' cognitive requirement in the didactic training of (prospective) teachers at commercial schools.
