The Basic Approach To Age Structured Population Dynamics written by Mimmo Iannelli and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-27 with Mathematics categories.

This book provides an introduction to age-structured population modeling which emphasizes the connection between mathematical theory and underlying biological assumptions. Through the rigorous development of the linear theory and the nonlinear theory alongside numerics, the authors explore classical equations that describe the dynamics of certain ecological systems. Modeling aspects are discussed to show how relevant problems in the fields of demography, ecology and epidemiology can be formulated and treated within the theory. In particular, the book presents extensions of age-structured modeling to the spread of diseases and epidemics while also addressing the issue of regularity of solutions, the asymptotic behavior of solutions, and numerical approximation. With sections on transmission models, non-autonomous models and global dynamics, this book fills a gap in the literature on theoretical population dynamics. The Basic Approach to Age-Structured Population Dynamics will appeal to graduate students and researchers in mathematical biology, epidemiology and demography who are interested in the systematic presentation of relevant models and mathematical methods.

In the last 20 years cell culture has developed enormously from being used only in specialized areas of research to being the cornerstone of probably the world's fastest-growing industry, biotechnology. The primary aim of this book is to guide the newcomer progressively through all those areas which nowadays are fundamental to the performance of cell culture. The book will also prove useful to the experienced worker. Topics covered include setting up and equipping a cell culture laboratory, sterilization of fluids and equipment, culture media, culture technique, the maintenance of cell lines, primary culture and the isolation of new cell lines, specific cell types and their requirements, single cell cloning, quality control of cell lines and the prevention, detection, and cure of contamination, and good laboratory practice in the cell culture laboratory.

This book is the revised edition of Understanding Basic Chemistry Through Problem Solving published in 2015. It is in a series of Understanding Chemistry books, which deals with Basic Chemistry using the problem solving approach. Written for students taking either the university of Cambridge O-level examinations or the GCSE examinations, this guidebook covers essential topics and concepts under both stipulated chemistry syllabi. The book is written in such a way as to guide the reader through the understanding and applications of essential chemical concepts using the problem solving approach. The authors have also retained the popular discourse feature from their previous few books — Understanding Advanced Physical Inorganic Chemistry, Understanding Advanced Organic and Analytical Chemistry, Understanding Advanced Chemistry Through Problem Solving, and Understanding Basic Chemistry — to help the learners better understand and see for themselves, how the concepts should be applied during solving problems. Based on the Socratic Method, questions are implanted throughout the book to help facilitate the reader's development in forming logical conclusions of concepts and the way they are being applied to explain the problems. In addition, the authors have also included important summaries and concept maps to help the learners to recall, remember, reinforce and apply the fundamental chemical concepts in a simple way. Basic Technical Analysis Of Financial Markets written by Renato Di Lorenzo and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-03 with Business & Economics categories.

The present book avoids the fantasy recipes that abound in technical analysis and focuses instead on those that are statistically correct and can be understood by newcomers as well as appreciated by professionals. The described protocols and techniques will prove invaluable in analyzing market behavior and assisting in trading decisions. The algorithms used in the technical analysis of financial markets have changed beyond recognition. This book offers a more efficient technical analysis – one that is not satisfied with protocols that just seem to be fine, but which requires that they are indeed fine, verifying this through simulations on the PC, serious statistical counts, and so on.

The Process Approach To Personality written by Gudmund J.W. Smith and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-17 with Psychology categories.

Some Implications of the Perceptgenetic Studies We should be most grateful to Professor Gudmund Smith for this compilation of studies on perceptgenesis (PG). Smith and his colleagues at Lund University are part of a small insurgency in psychology that has worked gamely and in relative obscurity to document the presence of subjective phases in the process leading to a perceptual object and the infrastructure of this process in the person ality. Smith describes ingenious methods to probe this hidden undersurface, and of a perceptual object is, in the ordinary demonstrate that the experiential content an object sense, pre-perceptual. That is, the feeling, meaning and recognition of are not attached to things out there in the world after they are perceived, but are phases ingredient in the process through which the perception occurs. To most psychologists, this statement would appear so radical as to be hardly worth refuting. A subjective approach to perception undermines the realism, consensual validation, and objectivity of a descriptive science of the mind. It is much simpler to interpret the 'psychic contribution' to object perception as an addition to physical nature. However, the idea that objects are assemblies of sensory bits linked to feeling and meaning, associated to memories for recognition and interpretation and then projected back into the world where we see them, though at first blush appealing to common sense, is so implausible that one is mystified by its universal acceptance.
