Isaac Newton’s most famous work, his Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy) or Principia, as it is commonly called, of 1687, was written in a secret code—a code that has remained uncracked to this day. This book cracks Newton’s secret code. The cracking of Newton’s secret code will have profound implications on our understanding of reality, even today. Contemporary physicists acknowledge that Albert Einstein’s cosmology is incomplete, and by cracking Newton’s code, we will be able to complete Einstein’s incomplete cosmology. Newton was a devoutly religious Christian, and by decrypting his secret code, we will discover how he had considered himself to have proven the existence of God’s presence in the natural world. Newton was an alchemist, and by decrypting his secret code, we will discover how he had considered himself to have accomplished the most sought-after goal in alchemy. Cracking Newton’s secret code will require of us no more than a grade school understanding of mathematics and of physics, and it will reveal to us the simplicity of a breathtakingly beautiful Universe. And perhaps most significantly, cracking Newton’s secret code will reveal to us the grand, underlying order that unifies all.

The Philosophy Of Joseph Petzoldt written by Chiara Russo Krauss and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-12 with Philosophy categories.
This volume is the first English resource to shed light on the philosophy of Joseph Petzoldt (1862-1929), the main pupil of Ernst Mach and founder of the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Philosophie, later the association of Berlin logical positivists. A central figure in the early debate on the theory of relativity, his work was praised by Einstein himself. Tracing the development of Petzoldt's ideas, starting from his early acceptance of materialism and Kantian agnosticism, Chiara Russo Krauss presents a comprehensive reconstruction of his philosophy in the context of the German milieu. She examines his attempt to develop a new philosophy following Gustav Fechner and the empiriocriticism of Richard Avenarius and Ernst Mach. In the final chapter, she sets out how Petzoldt proposed relativistic positivism as the official interpretation of Einstein's relativity. By illuminating key elements of Petzoldt's work, this is a valuable case study for students and scholars of philosophy of science and late 19th-century and early 20th-century philosophy. It reveals the complex interplay of two different tendencies of the time: neo-Kantianism and its struggle to overcome the notion of thing-in-itself, as well as the need for an epistemological foundation for the new advances of science.

An Introduction To Universal Artificial Intelligence written by Marcus Hutter and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-05-28 with Computers categories.
An Introduction to Universal Artificial Intelligence provides the formal underpinning of what it means for an agent to act intelligently in an unknown environment. First presented in Universal Algorithmic Intelligence (Hutter, 2000), UAI offers a framework in which virtually all AI problems can be formulated, and a theory of how to solve them. UAI unifies ideas from sequential decision theory, Bayesian inference, and algorithmic information theory to construct AIXI, an optimal reinforcement learning agent that learns to act optimally in unknown environments. AIXI is the theoretical gold standard for intelligent behavior. The book covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of UAI. Bayesian updating can be done efficiently with context tree weighting, and planning can be approximated by sampling with Monte Carlo tree search. It provides algorithms for the reader to implement, and experimental results to compare against. These algorithms are used to approximate AIXI. The book ends with a philosophical discussion of Artificial General Intelligence: Can super-intelligent agents even be constructed? Is it inevitable that they will be constructed, and what are the potential consequences? This text is suitable for late undergraduate students. It provides an extensive chapter to fill in the required mathematics, probability, information, and computability theory background.

“A rich and rewarding history of one of the most astounding ideas in physics and astronomy” (Marcia Bartusiak) – that the universe we know isn’t the only one Our books, our movies—our imaginations—are obsessed with extra dimensions, alternate timelines, and the sense that all we see might not be all there is. In short, we can’t stop thinking about the multiverse. As it turns out, physicists are similarly captivated. In The Allure of the Multiverse, physicist Paul Halpern tells the epic story of how science became besotted with the multiverse, and the controversies that ensued. The questions that brought scientists to this point are big and deep: Is reality such that anything can happen, must happen? How does quantum mechanics “choose” the outcomes of its apparently random processes? And why is the universe habitable? Each question quickly leads to the multiverse. Drawing on centuries of disputation and deep vision, from luminaries like Nietzsche, Einstein, and the creators of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Halpern reveals the multiplicity of multiverses that scientists have imagined to make sense of our reality. Whether we live in one of many different possible universes, or simply the only one there is, might never be certain. But Halpern shows one thing for sure: how stimulating it can be to try to find out.

The present collection of essays are published in honor of the distinguished historian of mathematics Professor Emeritus Jesper Lützen. In a career that spans more than four decades, Professor Lützen's scholarly contributions have enhanced our understanding of the history, development, and organization of mathematics. The essays cover a broad range of areas connected to Professor Lützen's work. In addition to this noteworthy scholarship, Professor Lützen has always been an exemplary colleague, providing support to peers as well as new faculty and graduate students. We dedicate this Festschrift to Professor Lützen—as a scholarly role model, mentor, colleague, and friend.

Reproducibility in Biomedical Research: Epistemological and Statistical Problems, 2nd Ed. explores the ideas and conundrums inherent in scientific research. Reproducibility is one of the biggest challenges in biomedical research. It affects not only the ability to replicate results, but the very trust in the findings. Since published in 2019, Reproducibility of Biomedical Research: Epistemological and Statistical Problems established itself as a solid ethical reference in the area, leading to significant reflection on biomedical research. The second edition addresses new challenges to reproducibility in biosciences, namely reproducibility of machine learning Artificial Intelligence (AI), reproducibility of translation from research to medical care, and the fundamental challenges to reproducibility. All current chapters will be expanded to cover advances in the topics previously addressed. Reproducibility in Biomedical Research: Epistemological and Statistical Problems, 2nd Ed. provides biomedical researchers with a framework to better understand the reproducibility challenges in the area. Newly introduced interactive exercises and updated case studies help students understand the fundamental concepts involved in the area. - Includes four new chapters and updates across the book, covering recent developments of issues affecting reproducibility in biomedical research - Covers reproducibility of results from machine learning AI algorithms - Presents new case studies to illustrate challenges in related fields - Includes a companion website with interactive exercises and summary tables

A Bridge Between Conceptual Frameworks written by Raffaele Pisano and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-06-30 with Science categories.
This book analyzes scientific problems within the history of physics, engineering, chemistry, astronomy and medicine, correlated with technological applications in the social context. When and how is tension between disciplines explicitly practised? What is the conceptual bridge between science researches and the organization of technological researches in the development of industrial applications? The authors explain various ways in which the sciences allowed advanced modelling on the one hand, and the development of new technological ideas on the other hand. An emphasis on the role played by mechanisms, production methods and instruments bestows a benefit on historical and scientific discourse: theories, institutions, universities, schools for engineers, social implications as well. Scholars from different traditions discuss the emergency style of thinking in methodology and, in theoretical perspective, aim to gather and re-evaluate the current thinking on this subject. It brings together contributions from leading experts in the field, and gives much-needed insight into the subject from a historical point of view. The volume composition makes for absorbing reading for historians, philosophers and scientists.
