With the mainstream's growing acceptance of worlds and storytelling spread among several different texts – e.g., films, television series, novels, and comics – this pioneering study employs a multidisciplinary approach combining transmediality, network theory, and narratology to analyze the narrative network of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this analysis, Christopher Hansen thoroughly examines storytelling techniques while providing a fresh theoretical framework to develop a structural model for interconnected narratives. He redefines our understanding of narrative dynamics in one of the most successful cinematic franchises of all time.

This pioneering volume proposes a compelling new theory of how regions have sustained their economic viability in the era of multinational corporations. Unlike traditional approaches, which analyze economic systems in terms of their mechanics (inputs, outputs, prices, technology, etc.), this work views them as systems for coordinating human actions and relationships. Reconceptualizing the role of learning, technology, and local institutions in development, Storper illuminates the key role of regional economies as building blocks of the increasingly connected world. A thought-provoking and timely work, The Regional World carries resounding implications for educators, students, and policymakers in economic geography, economic sociology, and international business. It is an essential primary or supplementary text for graduate-level courses on economic, regional, or industrial development and policy and international business.

Renewable raw materials are becoming increasingly important as an alternative resource base in industrial networks. Consequently, research for methods improving the efficient use of renewable resources in production processes with by-products is crucial. The aim is cascade utilization, thus the multiple utilization of a raw material before its conversion into energy. The International Conference on Resource Efficiency in Interorganizational Networks (ResEff) brings together interdisciplinary researchers developing strategies and solution concepts for efficient resource utilization. It is therefore a platform for scientific exchange both between experts as well as interdisciplinary groups from agricultural and forestry science, mathematical optimization, operations research, marketing, business informatics, production and logistics. The following facets of the challenging topic of resource efficiency in interorganizational networks are covered: Materials, technologies, planning of production and value-added networks for renewable resources as well as governance, coordination and sale of products from renewable resources.

The Gezira Scheme (GS) area in the central Sudan is considered a melting pot for migrants of different origins and whose lives are intertwined with the Scheme land. This book offers a qualitative analysis of social networks of women migrants of different origins and age groups who are engaged in the agricultural labour force of the GS. It looks at the social interactions, the diversity of social processes and the functions and functioning of social networks of women that shape their everyday life. Special emphasis is given to the means by which women get work opportunities and undertake work negotiations. Strategies that women apply to solve problems arising at work and in their private sphere are explored. The differential responses concerning ethnicicity-based differences are analysed. A combination of social networks theory and an actor-oriented perspective, both framed in constructivist terms, guided the analysis. To illustrate the complete picture of gendered social realities additional notions such as social security and social capital are introduced. Evidence shows that women are actors and acquire agency and their social networks serve multiple purposes and facilitate a wide range of settings. Examining the social networks by drawing upon a sociological approach provides new insights into the social networks theory and postulates additions to the actor-oriented approach and proposes new contributions to both theories.
