God schiep blank en zwart, de duivel de halfbloed. Met die woorden onderstreepte jurist en latere Eerste Minister Joseph Pholien de verhouding tussen de blanke man en de zwarte vrouw in Belgisch Congo. Bij Artsen Zonder Grenzen hoorde Jonathan Robijn voor het eerst over een instelling in het zuiden van Rwanda, waar vijftig jaar geleden kinderen opgroeiden die een Belgische vader en een Congolese moeder hadden. In de maanden die aan de onafhankelijkheid van Congo voorafgingen werden deze metiskinderen per vliegtuig naar België geëvacueerd. De meesten zagen hun biologische ouders, broers en zussen nooit meer terug. Net als Morgan.
