Márcia Gomes dos Santos Silva apresenta com sensibilidade reflexões sobre a importância da formação continuada e de como ela pode causar um impacto positivo na prática pedagógica, contribuindo de forma significativa na melhoria do atendimento à criança, quando se constitui num espaço importante de reflexão, reelaboração e transformação do fazer pedagógico. A pandemia do COVID-19 trouxe desafios imensos para a educação, em especial, a pública, sendo a formação acadêmica uma das áreas mais fortemente afetadas. A necessidade de se mudar a maneira como se praticava o processo de ensino-aprendizagem foi vital. Naquele contexto, os encontros virtuais se tornaram a única forma de se manter as ações voltadas para tal fim. Para a realização desses encontros, se fez necessária a aquisição de novas ferramentas tecnológicas tanto por parte dos professores quanto dos alunos. Se já não bastasse todo o contexto desafiador no qual esses alunos estavam inseridos, mais um empecilho acabava de surgir. A mudança necessária no modus operandi do processo ensino-aprendizagem provocou, de certa forma, uma descrença no aprendizado. A falta do contato presencial com o professor, das ferramentas tecnológicas e do conhecimento para manuseá-las fez com que muitos alunos se desmotivassem e abandonassem suas formações. Mesmo com todas as adversidades oriundas da pandemia e de seus desdobramentos no momento pós-pandêmico, alunos do curso de licenciatura em química dos campi de Ubajara e de Boa Viagem do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará (IFCE), orientados por seus professores, decidiram montar essa coletânea de textos que retratam experiências vivenciadas por eles tanto na área específica da química quanto na área pedagógica. O impacto causado na vida desses alunos e de seus colegas, ao se perceberem responsáveis diretos por sua formação ao atuarem como autores de uma obra publicável, transforma este livro em um exímio objeto motivacional e inspirador para a continuidade do processo de formação acadêmica dos alunos. É com base nessa atitude apresentada por esses alunos, de tomarem as rédeas de suas próprias vidas e serem os autores de sua própria jornada de vida acadêmica, que te convido a imergir na leitura dessa obra de forte demonstração de perseverança e dedicação. This book is a valuable source of information on the long-term effects of early intervention programs on the education of children living in economically disadvantaged areas and in other contexts. Early intervention programs such as Head Start enjoy popular and legislative support, but until now, policymakers and practitioners have lacked hard data on the long-term consequences of such locally and federally mandated efforts. Success in Early Intervention focuses on the Child-Parent Center (CPC) program in Chicago, the second oldest (after Head Start) federally funded early childhood intervention program. Begun in 1967, the program currently operates out of twenty-four centers, which are located in proximity to the elementary schools they serve. The CPC program?s unique features include mandatory parental involvement and a single, sustained educational system that spans preschool through the third grade. Central to this study is a 1986 cohort of nearly twelve hundred CPC children and a comparison group of low income children whose subsequent activities, challenges, and achievements are followed through the age of fifteen. The lives of these children amply demonstrate the positive long-term educational and social consequences of the CPC program.
