Naskah pada buku ini awalnya materi dari proses perkuliahan pada mata kuliah Evaluasi Program. Buku yang berjudul Evaluasi Program Model CIPP (Context, Input, Process, and Product) antara Teori dan Praktiknya yang berada di hadapan Anda ini merupakan salah satu contoh alat untuk mengetahui apakah suatu program dapat berjalan dengan baik atau sebaliknya. Tujuan model CIPP adalah untuk melihat semua strategi dan komponen evaluasi lainnya serta untuk mencari jawaban atas pertanyaan-pertanyaan seperti: Apakah desain evaluasi berfungsi dengan baik? Manakah poin yang menjadi permasalahan pada hal yang dikaji dan bagaimana cara mengatasinya? Serta apakah ada cara yang lebih efisien untuk mengumpulkan data?
