H... control theory is a subject that deals with the minimisation of the H... norm of the transfer matrix from an exogenous disturbance to a pertinent controlled output of a given plant. H... Control and Its Applications examines both the theoretical and practical aspects of H... control from the angle of the structural properties of linear systems. Constructive algorithms for finding solutions to general singular H... control problems are presented, as well as solutions to general H... almost disturbance decoupling problems, and the applications of the theory to real-life problems with actual implementations is also presented. The book deals with all such issues for general continuous - and discrete-time systems. The book can be used in graduate courses in departments of aeronautics and astronautics, applied mathematics, chemical engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. It is also invaluable for practising engineers in industry.

Control Theory for Linear Systems deals with the mathematical theory of feedback control of linear systems. It treats a wide range of control synthesis problems for linear state space systems with inputs and outputs. The book provides a treatment of these problems using state space methods, often with a geometric flavour. Its subject matter ranges from controllability and observability, stabilization, disturbance decoupling, and tracking and regulation, to linear quadratic regulation, H2 and H-infinity control, and robust stabilization. Each chapter of the book contains a series of exercises, intended to increase the reader's understanding of the material. Often, these exercises generalize and extend the material treated in the regular text.

Through its rapid progress in the last decade, HOOcontrol became an established control technology to achieve desirable performances of con trol systems. Several highly developed software packages are now avail able to easily compute an HOOcontroller for anybody who wishes to use HOOcontrol. It is questionable, however, that theoretical implications of HOOcontrol are well understood by the majority of its users. It is true that HOOcontrol theory is harder to learn due to its intrinsic mathemat ical nature, and it may not be necessary for those who simply want to apply it to understand the whole body of the theory. In general, how ever, the more we understand the theory, the better we can use it. It is at least helpful for selecting the design options in reasonable ways to know the theoretical core of HOOcontrol. The question arises: What is the theoretical core of HOO control? I wonder whether the majority of control theorists can answer this ques tion with confidence. Some theorists may say that the interpolation theory is the true essence of HOOcontrol, whereas others may assert that unitary dilation is the fundamental underlying idea of HOOcontrol. The J spectral factorization is also well known as a framework of HOOcontrol. A substantial number of researchers may take differential game as the most salient feature of HOOcontrol, and others may assert that the Bounded Real Lemma is the most fundamental building block.

One of the key concerns in modern control theory is the design of steering strategies. The implementation of such strategies is done by a regulator. Presented here is a self-contained introduction to the mathematical background of this type of regulator design. The topics selected address the matter of greatest interest to the control community, at present, namely, when the design objective is the reduction of the influence of exogeneous disturbances upon the output of the system. In a first scenario the disturbance signal is regarded as a deterministic time series with known dynamics but unknown parameters. The design objective is then the asymptotic disturbance compensation. In a second scenario, no information about the disturbance signal is available apart from some bounds. Here, in an H-approach, control strategies are worked out which will prove efficient for all such disturbances. The intention of this book is to present ideas and methods on such a level that the beginning graduate student will be able to follow current research. New results are included, especially for nonlinear control systems, and as a service to the reader, an extensive appendix presents topics from linear algebra, invariant manifolds and calculus of variations, information which is hardly to be found in standard textbooks. Contents: Introduction • The problem of output regulation • Introduction • Problem statement • Output regulation via full information • Output regulation via full error feedback • A particular case • Well-posedness and robustness • The construction of a robust regulator • Disturbance attenuation via H-methods • Introduction • Problem statement • A characterization of the L2-gain of a linear system • Disturbance attenuation via full information • Disturbance attenuation via measured feedback • Full information regulators • Problem statement • Time-dependent control strategies • Examples • Time-independent control strategies• The local case • Nonlinear observers • Problem statement • Time-dependent observers • Error feedback regulators • Examples • Nonlinear H-techniques • Introduction • Construction of the saddle-point • The local scenario • Disturbance attenuation via linearization • Matrix equations • Linear matrix equations • Algebraic Riccati equations • Invariant manifolds • Existence theorem • Outflowing manifolds • Asymptotic phase • Convergence for T 1 • A special case • Dichotomies and Lyapunov functions • Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman-Isaacs equation • Introduction • Method of characteristics • The equation of Isaacs • The Hamiltonian version of Isaacs' equation • Bibliography

Nonlinear H Infinity Control Hamiltonian Systems And Hamilton Jacobi Equations written by M.D.S. Aliyu and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-02-11 with Mathematics categories.

A comprehensive overview of nonlinear H∞ control theory for both continuous-time and discrete-time systems, Nonlinear H∞-Control, Hamiltonian Systems and Hamilton-Jacobi Equations covers topics as diverse as singular nonlinear H∞-control, nonlinear H∞ -filtering, mixed H2/ H∞-nonlinear control and filtering, nonlinear H∞-almost-disturbance-decoupling, and algorithms for solving the ubiquitous Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs equations. The link between the subject and analytical mechanics as well as the theory of partial differential equations is also elegantly summarized in a single chapter. Recent progress in developing computational schemes for solving the Hamilton-Jacobi equation (HJE) has facilitated the application of Hamilton-Jacobi theory in both mechanics and control. As there is currently no efficient systematic analytical or numerical approach for solving them, the biggest bottle-neck to the practical application of the nonlinear equivalent of the H∞-control theory has been the difficulty in solving the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs partial differential-equations (or inequalities). In light of this challenge, the author hopes to inspire continuing research and discussion on this topic via examples and simulations, as well as helpful notes and a rich bibliography. Nonlinear H∞-Control, Hamiltonian Systems and Hamilton-Jacobi Equations was written for practicing professionals, educators, researchers and graduate students in electrical, computer, mechanical, aeronautical, chemical, instrumentation, industrial and systems engineering, as well as applied mathematics, economics and management.

Successfully classroom-tested at the graduate level, Linear Control Theory: Structure, Robustness, and Optimization covers three major areas of control engineering (PID control, robust control, and optimal control). It provides balanced coverage of elegant mathematical theory and useful engineering-oriented results. The first part of the book develops results relating to the design of PID and first-order controllers for continuous and discrete-time linear systems with possible delays. The second section deals with the robust stability and performance of systems under parametric and unstructured uncertainty. This section describes several elegant and sharp results, such as Kharitonov’s theorem and its extensions, the edge theorem, and the mapping theorem. Focusing on the optimal control of linear systems, the third part discusses the standard theories of the linear quadratic regulator, Hinfinity and l1 optimal control, and associated results. Written by recognized leaders in the field, this book explains how control theory can be applied to the design of real-world systems. It shows that the techniques of three term controllers, along with the results on robust and optimal control, are invaluable to developing and solving research problems in many areas of engineering.
