This edited monograph provides a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of sliding mode control, focusing on event-triggered implementation. The technique allows to prefix the steady-state bounds of the system, and this is independent of any boundary disturbances. The idea of event-triggered SMC is developed for both single input / single output and multi-input / multi-output linear systems. Moreover, the reader learns how to apply this method to nonlinear systems. The book primarily addresses research experts in the field of sliding mode control, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students.

The past few years have seen the attention and rapid developments in event-triggered sampled-data systems, in which the effect of event-triggered sensor measurements and controller updates is explored in controller analysis and design. This book offers the first systematic treatment of event-triggered sampled-data control system design using active disturbance rejection control (ADRC), an effective approach that is popular in both theoretic research and industrial applications. Extensive application examples with numerous illustrations are included to show how the event-triggered ADRC with theoretic performance guarantees can be implemented in engineering systems and how the performance can be actually achieved. For theoretic researchers and graduate students, the presented results provide new directions in theoretic research on event-triggered sampled-data systems; for control practitioners, the book offers an effective approach to achieving satisfactory performance with limited sampling rates.

Constrained Nonlinear Control Performance And Robustness written by Ruihang Ji and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-05-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book is concerned with nonlinear control with performance-related and system-ability-related constraints. It presents novel work on several kinds of commonly encountered nonlinear systems, including those with stricter transient performance requirements, those with two types of constraints, those with no initial-condition limitation, and those with limited resources. It shows how nonlinear systems with severe constraints can be successfully controlled with our powerful control design. Typically, the book discusses a Tunnel Prescribed Control for achieving enhanced performance; provides a comprehensive solution, namely, Saturation-tolerant Prescribed Control, to handle the conflict between constraints; and then develops a Self-adjustable Prescribed Control to address the defined Entry Capture Problem that performance constraints are satisfied after (rather than from the beginning of) system operation. As such, the book will be of interest to researchers and graduate students in the fields of nonlinear systems, constrained control, and control engineering who would like to find out about the performance, robustness, and applications of constrained nonlinear systems.

Optimal Event-triggered Control using Adaptive Dynamic Programming discusses event triggered controller design which includes optimal control and event sampling design for linear and nonlinear dynamic systems including networked control systems (NCS) when the system dynamics are both known and uncertain. The NCS are a first step to realize cyber-physical systems (CPS) or industry 4.0 vision. The authors apply several powerful modern control techniques to the design of event-triggered controllers and derive event-trigger condition and demonstrate closed-loop stability. Detailed derivations, rigorous stability proofs, computer simulation examples, and downloadable MATLAB® codes are included for each case. The book begins by providing background on linear and nonlinear systems, NCS, networked imperfections, distributed systems, adaptive dynamic programming and optimal control, stability theory, and optimal adaptive event-triggered controller design in continuous-time and discrete-time for linear, nonlinear and distributed systems. It lays the foundation for reinforcement learning-based optimal adaptive controller use for infinite horizons. The text then: Introduces event triggered control of linear and nonlinear systems, describing the design of adaptive controllers for them Presents neural network-based optimal adaptive control and game theoretic formulation of linear and nonlinear systems enclosed by a communication network Addresses the stochastic optimal control of linear and nonlinear NCS by using neuro dynamic programming Explores optimal adaptive design for nonlinear two-player zero-sum games under communication constraints to solve optimal policy and event trigger condition Treats an event-sampled distributed linear and nonlinear systems to minimize transmission of state and control signals within the feedback loop via the communication network Covers several examples along the way and provides applications of event triggered control of robot manipulators, UAV and distributed joint optimal network scheduling and control design for wireless NCS/CPS in order to realize industry 4.0 vision An ideal textbook for senior undergraduate students, graduate students, university researchers, and practicing engineers, Optimal Event Triggered Control Design using Adaptive Dynamic Programming instills a solid understanding of neural network-based optimal controllers under event-sampling and how to build them so as to attain CPS or Industry 4.0 vision.

Nonlinear Control Of Dynamic Networks written by Tengfei Liu and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-03 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Significant progress has been made on nonlinear control systems in the past two decades. However, many of the existing nonlinear control methods cannot be readily used to cope with communication and networking issues without nontrivial modifications. For example, small quantization errors may cause the performance of a "well-designed" nonlinear control system to deteriorate. Motivated by the need for new tools to solve complex problems resulting from smart power grids, biological processes, distributed computing networks, transportation networks, robotic systems, and other cutting-edge control applications, Nonlinear Control of Dynamic Networks tackles newly arising theoretical and real-world challenges for stability analysis and control design, including nonlinearity, dimensionality, uncertainty, and information constraints as well as behaviors stemming from quantization, data-sampling, and impulses. Delivering a systematic review of the nonlinear small-gain theorems, the text: Supplies novel cyclic-small-gain theorems for large-scale nonlinear dynamic networks Offers a cyclic-small-gain framework for nonlinear control with static or dynamic quantization Contains a combination of cyclic-small-gain and set-valued map designs for robust control of nonlinear uncertain systems subject to sensor noise Presents a cyclic-small-gain result in directed graphs and distributed control of nonlinear multi-agent systems with fixed or dynamically changing topology Based on the authors’ recent research, Nonlinear Control of Dynamic Networks provides a unified framework for robust, quantized, and distributed control under information constraints. Suggesting avenues for further exploration, the book encourages readers to take into consideration more communication and networking issues in control designs to better handle the arising challenges.

Set Theoretic Approaches To The Aperiodic Control Of Linear Systems written by Florian D. Brunner and has been published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Technology & Engineering categories.

In this thesis, we employ set-theoretic properties of additively disturbed linear discrete-time systems to develop stabilizing aperiodically updated control laws for plants controlled over communication networks. In particular, we design event-triggered and self-triggered controllers with a priori guarantees on closed-loop characteristics such as stability, asymptotic bound, and average communication rate. Different models for the disturbances are taken into account, namely arbitrary disturbances of which only a bound in the form of a compact set is known and stochastic disturbances with known probability distribution. For setups with hard constraints on the states and inputs, we propose aperiodic schemes based on robust model predictive control methods. Both the full information (state-feedback) case, as well as the limited information (output-feedback) case are investigated. It is demonstrated that the proposed controllers achieve a considerable reduction in the required network usage with only moderate or non-existing deterioration of the closed-loop properties guaranteed by comparable controllers that transmit information at every point in time.
