This monograph presents some existing and new results on analysis and design of finite-time and fixed-time converging systems. Two main groups of approaches for analysis/synthesis of this kind of convergence, Lyapunov functions and the theory of homogeneous systems, are considered. The authors focus on the dynamics described by ordinary differential equations, time-delay models and partial differential equations. Some popular control and estimation algorithms, which possess accelerated converge rates, are also reviewed. Finally, the issues of discretization of finite-/fixed-time converging systems are discussed. Divided into 3 parts, this monograph provides the reader with a complete and accessible review of the topic. In the first part, the definitions of the different finite-/fixed-time stability properties are given together with their characterizations via the Lyapunov function approach. In the second part, several stabilization algorithms for linear and nonlinear systems are formalized, which are based on the implicit Lyapunov function approach. In the third part, the issues of discretization of finite-/fixed-time stable systems are discussed, with a special attention to the solutions obtained with the implicit Lyapunov function method. Finally, the accelerated converge concepts are presented for systems described by time-delay and partial differential equations. This monograph is an excellent introduction to the complex field of Finite-Time Stability Tools. It enables the reader to synthesize the important concepts and further their own research in the area.

This volume presents a timely overview of control theory and inverse problems, and highlights recent advances in these active research areas. The chapters are based on talks given at the spring school "Control & Inverse Problems” held in Monastir, Tunisia in May 2022. In addition to providing a snapshot of these two areas, chapters also highlight breakthroughs on more specific topics, such as: Controllability of dynamical systems Information transfer in multiplier equations Nonparametric instrumental regression Control of chained systems The damped wave equation Control and Inverse Problems will be a valuable resource for both established researchers as well as more junior members of the community.

Generalized Homogeneity In Systems And Control written by Andrey Polyakov and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-05 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This monograph introduces the theory of generalized homogeneous systems governed by differential equations in both Euclidean (finite-dimensional) and Banach/Hilbert (infinite-dimensional) spaces. It develops methods of stability and robustness analysis, control design, state estimation and discretization of homogeneous control systems. Generalized Homogeneity in Systems and Control is structured in two parts. Part I discusses various models of control systems and related tools for their analysis, including Lyapunov functions. Part II deals with the analysis and design of homogeneous control systems. Some of the key features of the text include: mathematical models of dynamical systems in finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional spaces; the theory of linear dilations in Banach spaces; homogeneous control and estimation; simple methods for an "upgrade" of existing linear control laws; numerical schemes for a consistent digital implementation of homogeneous algorithms; and experiments confirming an improvement of PID controllers. The advanced mathematical material will be of interest to researchers, mathematicians working in control theory and mathematically oriented control engineers.

Constrained Control And Estimation written by Graham C. Goodwin and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Computers categories.

This book provides a comprehensive treatment of the principles underlying optimal constrained control and estimation. The contents progress from optimisation theory, fixed-horizon discrete optimal control, receding-horizon implementations and stability conditions to explicit solutions and numerical algorithms, moving horizon estimation, and connections between constrained estimation and control. Several case studies and further developments illustrate and expand the core principles. Specific topics covered include: • An overview of optimisation theory. • Links to optimal control theory, including the discrete-minimum principle. • Linear and nonlinear receding-horizon constrained control including stability. • Constrained control solutions having a finite parameterisation for specific classes of problems. • Numerical procedures for solving constrained optimisation problems. • Output feedback optimal constrained control. • Constrained state estimation. • Duality between constrained estimation and control. • Applications to finite alphabet control and estimation problems, cross-directional control, rudder-roll stabilisation of ships, and control over communication networks. Constrained Control and Estimation is a self-contained treatment assuming that the reader has a basic background in systems theory, including linear control, stability and state-space methods. It is suitable for use in senior-level courses and as material for reference and self-study. A companion website is continually updated by the authors.

Differential Neural Networks For Robust Nonlinear Control written by Alexander S. Poznyak and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Computers categories.

This book deals with continuous time dynamic neural networks theory applied to the solution of basic problems in robust control theory, including identification, state space estimation (based on neuro-observers) and trajectory tracking. The plants to be identified and controlled are assumed to be a priori unknown but belonging to a given class containing internal unmodelled dynamics and external perturbations as well. The error stability analysis and the corresponding error bounds for different problems are presented. The effectiveness of the suggested approach is illustrated by its application to various controlled physical systems (robotic, chaotic, chemical, etc.).

Road Map For Sliding Mode Control Design written by Vadim Utkin and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-13 with Science categories.

This book is devoted to control of finite and infinite dimensional processes with continuous-time and discrete time control, focusing on suppression problems and new methods of adaptation applicable for systems with sliding motions only. Special mathematical methods are needed for all the listed control tasks. These methods are addressed in the initial chapters, with coverage of the definition of the multidimensional sliding modes, the derivation of the differential equations of those motions, and the existence conditions. Subsequent chapters discusses various areas of further research. The book reflects the consensus view of the authors regarding the current status of SMC theory. It is addressed to a broad spectrum of engineers and theoreticians working in diverse areas of control theory and applications. It is well suited for use in graduate and postgraduate courses in such university programs as Electrical Engineering, Control of Nonlinear Systems, and Mechanical Engineering.

Liapunov Functions And Stability In Control Theory written by Andrea Bacciotti and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-11-24 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book presents a modern and self-contained treatment of the Liapunov method for stability analysis, in the framework of mathematical nonlinear control theory. A Particular focus is on the problem of the existence of Liapunov functions (converse Liapunov theorems) and their regularity, whose interest is especially motivated by applications to automatic control. Many recent results in this area have been collected and presented in a systematic way. Some of them are given in extended, unified versions and with new, simpler proofs. In the 2nd edition of this successful book several new sections were added and old sections have been improved, e.g., about the Zubovs method, Liapunov functions for discontinuous systems and cascaded systems. Many new examples, explanations and figures were added making this book accessible and well readable for engineers as well as mathematicians.
